What do you think if they were to make this fight?.
Would this be fair to Al or is this too big of a step up in competition?

I like the fight and think it’s makes sense…But it’s a step up in competition for Conor not Al…

A step up for Conor?.
So you think Al is better than Khabib?
Tough fight for Conor. No way he accepts it.
Conor’s days at the top are over.

Haha. You quack me up!
Conor’s playing a different ballgame. He’s only going to fight someone with major recognition or accomplishments in the sport. If McGregor’s going to fight an Iaquinta type opponent then Leo Santos can get the backing of Brazilians, has the storyline of being Aldo’s teammate and finishing Kevin Lee and GSP in less than 5 minutes combined, while never losing in the UFC.
Al Iaquinta’s the man though.

Until the fight happens and Conor looses…Where is Conor better than Al? Please don’t say stand up because Khabib and Nate tooled him standing and Conor doesn’t possess the same power at 55 than he did at 45 He won’t ko Al that’s for sure.
I’ll take Serra Longo team to upset anyone. Forever. And yes it would be another feather in ray longos cap.
Conor gasses and and Al takes it
I love Al but come on fellas.
Completely pointless fight. If AI wins, what, a title shot? No, there for Fergy. If Conor wins, a title shot? No. So many better fights for both. Terrible fight.
This fight is not a good choice and won’t happen, but let’s discuss the outcome just for fun.
I personally think its a poor matchup for al. I believe it would play out similar to Mcgregor vs Alvarez. Laquinta is a well rounded fighter, but well rounded fighters don’t seem to do that well against Mcgregor. Seems like McGregor struggle either against elite strikers with cardio, or elite wrestlers. I don’t believe Al has the striking for this fight.
After all the shit Al has talked about Dana and the UFC, anyone thinking that Al has a hope in hell of getting a Conor fight is out of their minds.
Iaquinta via foreclosure

Would you not agree that Mendes is as elite of a wrestler as you can get in MMA? Conor ruined him in under 2 rounds. Dont sell Alvarez’s wrestling short either. Alvarez out wrestled Chandler and Gathje, yet was brushed aside by Conor and KOd in under 2 rounds. Serious question, when has Conor ever struggled with an elite striker? Max is as elite of a striker as you can possibly get in MMA, and Conor shut Max down in the striking and schooled him on the feet. Aldo is also as elite of an MMA striker as you can get in MMA, and Conor humiliated Aldo on the feet.
It’s a huge myth that Conor "struggled" vs Nate. Conor was ruining Nate in the 1st fight until he ran out of gas punching himself out against Nate’s zombie chin. Conor beat Nate in the rematch purely on the feet. Conor the much smaller fighter has 3 knockdowns over Nate to Nate’s 0 lol. What Conor did "struggle" against was Nate’s chin and Nate’s size. Striking skill had nothing to do with anything. Conor was far superior.
Just because Conor lost in a boxing ring to one of the greatest boxers of this era, that means Conor losses to elite strikers now? Just because Conor lost on the ground to one of the greatest grapplers MMA history has ever seen in Khabib that means Conor losses to elite wrestlers now? Let’s not be hysterical. Let Conor face people like Ortega, Pettis, Johnson, RDA, Barboza, and Iaquinta…and Conor would look untouchable. You have to give Conor some credit though. He dared to do what no one else has ever done against 2 undefeated giants of boxing and wrestling, and he simply came up short. What happens when Conor comes out in his next fight and puts a matrix clinic on Tony Ferguson? What happens when Conor wins the rematch against Khabib?

Did you know that Mendes took that fight on 2 weeks notice and thus gassed early? Or did you choose to ignore that important tidbit just so your argument sounded a little stronger? Mendes generally doesn’t gas that early in fights (watch the second Aldo fight). I’m not saying Conor wouldn’t have still won if Mendes has a full camp, but he was definitely at a disadvantage coming into that fight.
And Max is one of, if not the, best striker NOW, but you’re talking about a fight that happened over 5 years ago when Max was 21. Again, not saying Conor couldn’t beat him now still, but but put some fucking context into your argument instead of just completely ignoring important aspects.
AL has no personality.. Not interested at all in that fight. I rather watch conner fight either Diaz, GSP, Cowboy, Pettis, Barbosa, lol hell, anyone except AL
I'd take McGregor all day. Anyone that is going to game plan to stand in front of him is in for a super long night.
I’d buy a ticket. Conor’s probably too quick for Al. He’d be able to land a lot and dodge Al’s right hand. Would be very one sided, but if Conor doesn’t finish early, he’s in for a world of shit. Al is too patient to charge in and get smashed up. He could stay back, pick his spots and drag Conor into the deep water. Al’s cardio, toughness, and mental game would be a nightmare against an exhausted McGregor.
3 rounds fight- All McGregor
5 round fight- tossup
