McGregor vs. St-Pierre predictions?

tbi0904 -

GSP beats him worse than he'd beat Askren.

Since an actual finish is the only possible way Conor wins this.  How would Conor finish GSP?  I don't think Conor has the power no matter what weight they fight to stone cold GSP and besides a spot on 1/1000 punch there's no other possible way Conor wins.

Not hating but I see GSP winning this fight 998 times out of a 1000 with those 2 coming from aligning of the planet type punches.

ABCTT_TFK_Mr.Smiff - hahahaha yes! old new new old CRE is back...hope you're well sir

Thanks. Same to you sir.

Big Conor fan here. GSP destroys...

Conor taps to strikes.

You dont know anything about fighting. But since im nice, i will give you a breakdown on why Conor would be a bad match up for Gsp. Consider this a free education crash course, courtesy of me.

Gsp relied on his jab for everything; to control, set up more offence, or set up the takedown.

For Example. Gsp would level change fient a lot. Opponents would be weary of the takedown, then Gsp would start upshooting his jab from his level change or squat.

https://media.giphy.com/media/WU1AAiquqM6W1KkVK7/giphy.gif

Gsp would also shoot a jab or fient a jab, knowing opponents would be looking to counter his jab, then duck under the counter for a takedown.

Or jab to keep his opponents guard up, pre-occupy them, then shoot in on them.

The jab was the glue that held everything together for Gsp. By disrupting his jab, you disrupted his entire game.

Now In opposite stance match ups, the leadhands are constantly clashing

https://media.giphy.com/media/cLMGi0PJQqsKOWcpcQ/giphy.gif

A southpaw would already be in position to check Gsp's jabhand, smoother it down, or counter over it. That's exactly the kind of technician Conor is, with his fantastic leadhand control. You discourage or take away Gsp's jab, and you take away his game.

Johnny Hendricks would constantly smoother Gsp's jabhand with his leadlead. He would check and occupy his leadhand, and that kept Gsp from being able to establish his jab. Johnny Hendricks of all people was able to take away Gsp's jab, and that's why Gsp struggled so much against him.

https://media.giphy.com/media/h2IPM28bHUcbY9bEpA/giphy.gif

Hendricks hooks over Gsp's jabhand and throws a 1-2. Gsp tries to interrupt with a weak hook, and Hendricks's 2 lands with Gsp's jab/hook.

Contrary to "popular belief" Gsp was not that good of a boxer; someone who could fight for leadhand positioning, and jab over, or hook over the leadhand. It was also due to his poor feet placement and poor weight transferring on his hooks

Gsp also had this same issue with throwing his right hands, which is why an orthodox fighter establishing his own jab vs Gsp would have given Gsp a lot of trouble, with Gsp not being able to counter over their jabs with any meaningful right hands (due to his poor feet placement and poor weight transferring). This is why Gsp struggled so much with Shields. Shields would be circling to his left away from Gsp's jab, while popping off his own jab.

https://media.giphy.com/media/mG241lnocVE5ihM82U/giphy.gif

Gsp's piss poor weight transferring then didn't allow him to counter over Sheilds's jabs with any meaningful rights

https://media.giphy.com/media/cMDnxuTKfcFdTGy7Uh/giphy.gif

Gsp's legs being too far apart. His back leg would literally bend. He had no ability to push off and drive off his back leg into his front foot. Poor weight transferring.

Now back to the study

https://media.giphy.com/media/eK6cTsyKTMCO8tx8M1/giphy.gif

You can see at the start Hendricks controlling and occupying Gsp's leadhand. Positioning his leadhand higher. Hendricks was constantly winning the battle of the leadhands. With Gsp's jab nullified, Gsp had to rely on rear body kicks, inside leg kicks, and poorly thrown hooks for offence. And Gsp was no where near the same fighter with out his jab.

https://media.giphy.com/media/eNdfDQqOAP2teNJ6Ix/giphy.gif

Not only would Conor take away Gsp's jab with leadhand fighting, Conor always returns punches with kicks. Gsp would try to start working kicks without his jab and thats countering opportunities for Conor.

Conor would constantly be checking Gsp's jabhand, occupying his leadhand preventing him from jabbing, positioning his leadhand higher to smoother down and shut his jab down

https://media.giphy.com/media/LPkzdRpiozskwgSO5W/giphy.gif

Conor would be slipping his head to the ooutside and countering with his left underneath Gsp's jab

https://media.giphy.com/media/cIo2pWd6YA2ximXE0K/giphy.gif

Conor would have a field day controlling Gsp's jabhand, fienting him out of position, pulling/grabbing and shooting his left straights down the pipe, or shooting his lefts with Gsp reaching for his leadhand. It would get ugly. And when you take away Gsp's jab, that takes away his ability to hide his takedowns or set up his takedowns. It will be much easier stopping telegraphed takedowns. The only issue is that Gsp is literally 2 to 3 weight classes bigger then Conor. But stylistically and skill wise Conoe is tailor made to butt fuck Gsp in a striking contest. Conor Is such a stylistic great match up against Gsp, that if they were the same size Conor would run him over 9 out of 10 times. Gsp would expose the fuck out of Khabib though

GSP pretends he's gonna strike and then comes out with a take down out of the blue. It goes downhill for Conor from there.

Btw i am a Conor fan and i totally disagree with people saying he’s out of prime or that he’s done. I just think no version of Conor can beat GSP.

100%

I'd be shocked if Conor accepted this fight. I don't think he risks another loss before rematching Khabib.

Try actually reading my breakdown and educating yourself. I specifically broke down how the jab was the success behind his takedowns, how to take away his jab, and how taking away his jab makes the takedowns easier to defend (they start to come more telegraphed without being set up by his jab). The fact you come with a stupid response like that let’s me know you didn’t read anything. I just added in new examples too

LOL...GSP is bigger and more skilled...he would DESTROY Conner on his feet....embarass him actually....Connor is just a brawler. GSP is far too technical, quick, athletic and unorthidox. Would finish the fight within 2 rounds.

Get treated asap "Gspfan"

any time GSP felt any kind of danger on the feet he would just take down Conor. Also this fight would have to happen at 170, no way GSP makes 155. which would be a HORRIBLE fight for Conor to take. It would look even worse than his fight with Khabib
