MEDITATION

Who does it? Thoughts?

I'd like to do Anapanasati (the most popular meditation technique) regularly!

I do zazen (or try to) everyday. Very helpful. Phone Post 3.0

Been doing it for years and recently started holding classes on it, writing about it etc. It's a game changer.

Let me know if you have questions and I'll try to guide you to the right resources.

I'm in the middle of hosting a 30 day - 5 min per day challenge through FB and IG. Seems to be helping people to have the accountability as well as only 5 minutes to hold them too.

Cheers.

Any thoughts on the "best type" of meditation? Is the straight mindfulness/headspace type stuff worthwhile?

I'm curious about meditation. Phone Post 3.0

I've been meditating for a decade. Done week long retreats, got another coming up soon. Plan on doing a 2 or three month retreat over the summer.

In a few years, people will think about meditation the same way people think about exercise now. It's a mandatory part of a healthy life.

Of course it goes far deeper than that..awakening/enlightenment and the whole bit. But most people aren't ready for that kind of radical paradigm shift.

It's so simple yet so overlooked Phone Post 3.0

If I miss more than a couple days my focus suffers and I get frustrated and angry much easier. Definitely worth 10 minutes a day! Phone Post 3.0

I use headspace and I like it a lot. There is a free 10 day trial. Takes ten mins a day. Phone Post 3.0

Also, don't over think it. Just do it. No books or apps or workshops needed. No need to pay anyone to teach you. Just find a pillow and sit on it. Stare at a wall and let thoughts come and go without engaging with them. Soon those thoughts will slow down and disappear as you don't give them the energy they need to survive. Start with 5 mins. No pressure on yourself and no expectations. When you start to meditate you have already accomplished everything that meditation can provide. Phone Post 3.0
