After defeating Sato it looks as if Gilbert Melendez will be fighting Alexandre "Pequeno" at the end of the year in Shooto. Who do you guys think will win this one?
I'm going with Melendez by TKO in the 3rd.He's too big for Pequeno.But I wouldnt be suprised if Pequeno beat him,I don't think anybody has really pushed Melendez yet,so I could see Pequeno getting a guillotine.
What about Menjivar?
And too bad Kid and Pulver left Shooto without ever fighting Pequeno!
Pequeno does have a magic body parts. Seven people have died in his sweat pit already. From the footage I have seen of Melendez(vs Takaya, Palling), he uses single and double legs in order to take his opponents down. I havent seen much in greco style takedowns from him. So I could see Pequeno catching him in his arm pit and killing him there when he goes for a takedown.

that melendez is on a tear right now. his momentum is on, i think that would be a good fight. I would go with melendez though
I'd go with Melendez. He won't even go for a tackle against Pequeno. He has such a reach advantage that he's just going to keep the fight standing and out-box and sprawl Pequeno. Melendez is going to be take the belt from Pequeno who's held it since 1999.

Melendez, by attempted murder. Noone can touch him at 145!
Menjivar could definitely "touch" him at 145.
No one is as well rounded as Ivan Menjivar at that weight. He is strong/big for the weight division, faster than most, and more agile than most. I'd really like to see him and Gilbert mix it up.

And is Melendez a big featherweight, is he rangy, strong? I haven't seen him before.

It didnt seem like Sato was hurt too bad,maybe a little stunned by the knee.But they stopped it cause of the blood.

he could take pequeno down if he wanted, but i think he will just beat on him standing.
he is a very very big LW with serious power and a nonstop motor. great takedowns, pressure game etc.
