Memories of UFC London

There were probably enough salty tears shed in the O2 Arena last night - by both fans and fighters - to season a million bowls of soup. It was a fight card that had so many memorable moments, so many emotionally charged highs and lows. Which of these will stand out for you in years to come? I really can't decide.

  • The excellent work by the ringside physician and corner men in allowing two fighters whose eyes were brutalized and swollen shut to go on and take more abuse.
  • The incredible heart and toughness of Molly McCann and Nick Negumereanu.
  • The number of fighters taken to the hospital.
  • The excellent job Goddard did in the main event.
  • The early stoppage in the Masvidal fight. Not the fight with Till. The fight with Edwards.
  • The chick in the first row almost levitating with a look on her face somewhere between Edvard Munch’s “The Scream” and Macaulay Culkin’s “Home Alone” shtick.
  • The announcement of Michael Bisping’s induction into the HOF and Masvidal and Till virtually re-enacting the ending of the Hendo vs. Bisping first fight.
  • Reyes and Oezdemir reminding everyone that Johnny Walker vs. Jon Jones is the only realistically competitive LHW title fight in the foreseeable future and that Johnny Walker would have probably flying knee’d either of them to Bolivia in about 45 seconds.
  • The three-man announcing crew saying “Let’s listen” for the verbal tap in the Silva vs. Roberts fight and then talking over the audio as they rolled the replay.
