Mendes: Couple guys in top ten destroy McGregor

<p>Conor McGregor is currently ranked third in the featherweight division, but will next fight for the world title. But if you ask Chad Mendes, who is ranked second, there is more than one guy in the top ten that would beat McGregor in a fight, nevermind the champion Jose Aldo:</p>
“I think Aldo’s going to beat him. A lot of people are saying that Conor’s striking is going to be too much for Aldo, which blows my mind because Aldo’s known to have the best striking in the division. I think Conor’s stance is way too wide. Aldo’s going to tear his legs up with leg kicks. And then if, you know, if Aldo for whatever reason is getting tagged on his feet, a lot of times don’t remember this or realize this, but Aldo has a great blast double. I mean, we saw the fight with Mark Hominick. When Hominick would start tagging him up, he would blast him off his feet and Aldo’s a black belt. So he has a great ground game and a lot of people forget that. Conor doesn’t have any ground game. We’ve seen him get taken down by Siver who’s not even a wrestler. I think all in all, Aldo’s going to stay the champ.”
Though the 29-year-old California native shrugged off any comments McGregor has made about him, he was intrigued by Lamas’ 7-minute video in which he depicts a characted dubbed “The Delirious” Conrad McGillicutty and mocks McGregor. No matter who wins between Lamas and Mendes, it seems they both want a crack at squaring off with the Dublin native.
“In my opinion, I wouldn’t care if it was me or Lamas that fought Conor. You know, Conor hasn’t fought a wrestler and there’s so many guys in the division that are low top ten’rs or that are in the top ten that would completely destroy Conor. But he’s gone around those types of guys. Myself, Lamas, Nik Lentz, Guida, any of these guys that have wrestling that can move and take a punch would destroy Conor. I’d just want to see it happen and I’d love to be the guy to do it. But all in all, it just needs to go down.”
Mendes is delusional. Anyone who thinks McGregor will just get destroyed is lying to themselves. He may lose, but this guy is an elite level fighter who will compete at a high level with anyone in the world.
Aldo is a better wrestler with. Better double and better defensive wrestling than Lamas and Mendes. If Conor beats Aldo then he will beat them too

It's understandable that Mendes wants to believe that Aldo will destroy McGregor, but his analysis of McGregor's ability is so wide of the mark it's ridiculous.
Aldo is a better wrestler with. Better double and better defensive wrestling than Lamas and Mendes. If Conor beats Aldo then he will beat them too

Lamas did take Aldo down in the fifth and controlled him for the entire round in their fight.
Aldo has some of the best tdd in MMA and has good takedowns himself but he isn't a better wrestler than guys that have been wrestling for most of their life.

Yes he is. Aldo was gassed like he often is in the last round. You are wrong. Enjoy the moment, hug it, bath in it, roll around on the floor and embrace it. It will make you a better person. Aldo is a better wrestler.
