Mens & Womens Judo from 1996 Olympics

Here's judo from 20 years ago. Is this dramatically different than judo is today?

I have watched this before and the judo is excellent. Especially those Sode throws where they use the other hand to flip the opponent over by the knee.  Excellent display of throws and matwork especially Nastula on the ground and Jeon with his throws.  Jeon was almost unbeatable.  Pedro had excellent tai otoshi.

I think the athleticisim today is probably better but the Judo was better then.

I was fortunate enough to be there

That's great.

3/4 from our dojo (Saito) were there along with our Sensei. I think I was a green belt back then but watched it on VHS.  I don't think the top players are better today comparitively.  Many more countries are producing world class players at the top and competition is fierce.
