Metal Heads! - I met the evil genius tonight.

Hevy Fucking Devy.

Devin Townsend - I've been a huge fan since he released his Noisescapes demo in '93. My boss's brother played keyboards on it and gave me a copy.

After my son's baseball practice tonight I walked into Taco Del Mar with my two kids and was ordering our food when he walked in behind us. It was the most surreal thing for him to just be standing there. I managed to say hello and tell him I was a fan going all the way back to Noisescapes demo. We have a mutual friend who he said to say hello to. I was super geeked and my kid's laughed at how excited I was after I sat down.

Check out the :50 second mark of that video for a sample of his ridiculous vocals. Cool night for me boys.

What he used to look like.

What he looks like nowadays.

Absolutely. I've seen him four times and he is so underrated it's criminal.

Guy was very cool and I didn't want to bother him so I kept it short and sweet. I told him I would have been pissed at myself if I didn't say hello. He shook my hand and asked my name. Still smiling. lol

Holy fuck, I'm embarrassed to say that I really know nothing about these guys, but that video was badass! Loved it, awesome vocals, and that chick singer was pretty damn sexy in her sweet smiley metalhead kind of way! I'd have to say you had a good day pal, and tacos to boot!

Brutal!

Townsend is the fuckin' man. How big was it? Phone Post 3.0

Here's another cool tune with a big show. His early stuff was super brutal and heavy. His new stuff is very complex but once you "get it" you can't stop playing it. It was a very cool night Sgotty.

Man, that is huge. One of the more eclectic metal crowds I've seen. Were those furries? Phone Post 3.0

Bring back the skullet! The dude is a musical madman.
My sister walked down the aisle to a SYL song, haha Phone Post 3.0

^^ That performance at the Royal Albert Hall was sick. I'm digging this Devon Townsend Project and wondering how the fuck this ever escaped me back in the day. I think what might have happened is during my metal, punk, grunge, kickass days in 93 I got locked up for a while. When I came out I calmed down, moved west and started jiving to the motown and funk vibe because I needed the happy music to keep my spirits positive, lol! Moved into the mountains and lost touch with all things radio for a few years. I'm not sure, some good music escaped me during a stretch of years, that's all I know.

Seen syl play a show in Perth one time probably the last time they toured oz before the band finished up..awesome night dudes fuckin killed it. Phone Post 3.0

I've been familiar with him for a long time, but never really checked out his music until a few months ago.

I'm not really into all the Ziltoid stuff, but his live performances of "Deadhead" and "The Death of Music" on the Royal Albert Hall DVD are just fucking incredible. Vocally, what I like about him is his screams are actually intelligible, and musically, he's not afraid to experiment. Very Zappa-like in some ways.

AWESOME THREAD!!! Phone Post 3.0

That's awesome man. I used to love those guys. Heavy as a really heavy thing took me by complete surprise when it first came out. Never heard of them before that and it was hard not to love it. They're great live too. Devin is like the heavy version of Mike Patton Phone Post 3.0
