It’s pretty great. Stayed there for 10 days a couple years ago.
Lately we've been getting an Airbnb condo on Half Moon Bay in Akumal- It’s my favorite way to do Mexico. Did a day trip to the Sian Ma’am last time. I highly recommend it.

I will have to look into that. The Whale Sharks are what got me to go to IM, does Half moon Bay have any unique adventure opportunities?
I've been to Mexico 8 times, stayed at resorts and gone the condo route as well.
Seems totally safe, especially if you stay in busy areas. As said above, just dont get involved in drug shit and dont get completely wasted.

Yal-ku lagoon is right down the road and there’s great snorkeling in the bay. We see sea turtles every time we go out. Otherwise it is most very laid back beach time for us. Oh and La Beuna Vida beach bar is a cool spot to get food and drinks on the same bay.
