Mike Goldberg was the voice of the UFC for 20 years. When he left, he didn't receive as much as an on-screen thank you or even recognition for his years of service to the UFC. It was like he never existed.
When WWE offered him a large pay day to fuck the UFC over and no-show a UFC event and come work for the WWE, he said no and stayed loyal to the UFC.
There’s never been a better and never will be a better commentary team than Goldberg and Rogan. I remember meeting him at UFC 72. Two things I remember about him - his teeth were white as fuck, and also - he was super nice and came over to chat while I was talking to Eddie Bravo.
UFC has been the same since he left. Yeah he would fuck up from time to time, but his voice had energy and him and Rogan just added something extra to the fights that’s lost today.
The least UFC could do is to put him in the hall of fame alongside with Joe Rogan. They owe it to him.
Goldie was terrible. 20 years of commentating and never learned shit ; canned tag lines and catch phrases.
You literally knew what he was going to say, and exactly how he was going to say it, before he opened his mouth. I dont hate mike as a person and it sucks to see a guy get fired. It does.
But he deserved it. He was absolutely terrible at his job. If i showed up to work for 20 years and didnt know shit about my job, and kept committing the same errors over and over and over, i would expect a pink slip. Not an award ceremony.
Having said that, he prolly deserve a spot next to rogan just for his tenure. But he sucked.

His role was play-by-play, not color commentary. He did exactly what he was supposed to do. Give a layman’s view of what was happening, while Rogan played color and offered a deeper level of insight.
Goldie was a great commentator who had personality and tone.
Think about it. He's more known for his fuck ups than anything good he brought to the table.
I can't forget him fucking up Jens Pulver's nickname at what should have been a moment of triumph.
Lil Evil wins by KO and Goldberg bellows "Little Eagle flies again!"
It was so bad. It's the kind of fuck up that makes other people embarrassed.
When you do dozens of events a year for 20 years, talking non-stop for like 5 or 6 hours - you’ll have fuck-ups. It happens. 99% of his commentary was on the money.
