Mike Patt cut from the UFC

Mike Patt’s run in the UFC has come to an end.

Sources have informed FiveOuncesOfPain.com that the jiu-jitsu black belt was released by the promotion shortly after his TKO loss to Brandon Vera this past Saturday at UFC 96.

It was a good run

Shocking /(sarcasm)

Too bad. Seemed like a nice chap. Damn you Vera.

Theyve been chopping dudes alot lately,

Maybe he could cut down to 185 lbs. and try and earn his way back. He looks a little soft, and it seems that to be competitive in 205, you have to be an elite striker (nearly every guy in the top 10 has a good stand-up game.)

At 185, there seems to be a lot of guys with excellent ground games that get away with a lack of striking (Maia, Paul Harris, MacDonald, etc.)

Think I read in the Observer they want to cut enough guys to trim the roster so that nearly everyone fights 3 times a year.

Seems like a good dude but has a long ways to go to be able to compete in the UFC's 205 division. A lot of sharks in that tiny pool.

Not shocking at all

Many more cuts to come.

It's a shame, but such is the nature of professional sports.

He just didnt look ready for that level of competition.
A good move by the UFC.

He is definitely fighting above his weight class at 205; at 185, there are fewer people who can do what Vera did to him. He has toughness, I'll give him that, but I can't see him being competetive at LHW.

While I'm saddened by lots of fighters getting cut, I do support trimming down the roster so that fighters can fight 3 times a year.

Overall it's a good thing. I'd rather have some of the lower tier guys getting 3 fights a year so they can make a living rather than a ton of lower tier guys getting 1 fight a year and none able to live off of that.

Awful gameplan, and awful coaching.

"Get in his face."

While he chops your fucking legs off.

mike patt is a killer

Shocker! Maybe he'll learn to lift his left leg in regional promotions.

finally, sherdog doesn't have to pick him on the roundtables!
