OMA (tm) - He sure handled that well.

I'm not saying he is a great coach or a great person, in fact I know very little about him as a coach.......

This is the first time I "tuned in" to read how he handled what Melvin (a friend of mine) said and I think he couldn't have handled it better in the media

Now.....

Was he just saying the "right thing" or does he actually believe what he said?

That's the real question.

But so far he is acting and talking like a true leader and coach. Minimal ego.

I hope it's his true self. But a couple of quotes doesn't prove anything
Whether its his true self or not, he handled it a lot better than your buddy Melvin.
jpm995 - Despite OMA's vieled cheap shot, Mike comes across as as a stand up guy and coach. Gullard blames everyone but himself for his losses. Mikes wrestling and coaching credientials would only be questioned by morons. To see a class act like Van Arsdale having his reputation and character questioned on here is discraceful. Its clear who the frauds are in this post and its not Van Arsdale.
It wasn't a cheap shot. I wasn't giving a back handed compliment. And I it seemed that way I am sorry.
MVA did handle that well, but Melvin on the other hand, i feel is a punk. I don't get how he could bash on him like he did, and have no appreciation for the help MVA put into not only Melvin, but also the entire team. My coach from my gym back home may not be the greatest most knowledgable MMA coach in the world, but I surely appreciate him putting the effort of helping not only me, but everyone else at the gym improve.
With that being said, Melvin is not only a punk for the MVA comments, but also for CALLING OUT Jeremy Stephens, and then trying to point fight him. I can see him fighting like that if he was matched up out of the blue with Jeremy (and I wouldn't blame him for that) but to CALL HIM OUT after a fight, and then to run from him like a little sissy just aggrivates me. Then to disrespect MVA who tried to help. . . . SMH
Add MVA as one of the most talented/athletic guys to not really come around so much as an overall MMA guy. He did ok but thought he looked capable of being much better. Similar to Carlos Newton, perhaps its the time they started?
Carlos Newton achieved a lot more in his MMA career than MVA, Newton started off pretty young as well.
yeah, true but was just surprised both didnt advance their games more when you could just see the potential and athleticism breathing out their pores. MVA moved so well and fast and strong. Remember when he completely tossed Randy over the moon?
MarcusRenatoBlackBelt - I don't understand why people are saying Melvin's comments were not classy and tasteless. He said what was on his mind and Van Arsdale AGREED with him. Why would anyone on this board have an issue with Melvin saying in when Van Arsdale certainly did not. It looks like Van Arsdale says "I should be better at my job" which is exactly what Melvin Guillard was saying!
Dude, you're so dumb. So violently dumb. So heinously stupid. So viciously retarded.. I've seen you post stupid things before... Constantly, and this is just a happy reminder of your congenital moronism. You... Are a monument to stupid. It's almost like you willfully misinterpret and misunderstand. Life must be a series of injustices and unexplained slights... You must be in a constant state of bewilderment as to why things just aren't working out for you. If you want a few clues... Go back and read your posts on this forum.
