I see your logic too Bob and would not be surprised if he was given a former contender for his 4th fight but I feel the UFC is wisely looking to brig Stipe along slowly and let him improve as well as build up a following. No doubt he already has the skills to be a top tier hw but hes still going to get better with each fight which is scary. He's the best young hw prospect to come in to the UFC in a long long time IMO and I'm betting joe silva feels the same way. And Im betting him being the Naafs Hw champ might be why you feel so strongly about stipe? Don't get me wrong he's got a lot of talent but anyone higher then Russow or Meathead would derail his hype train really dam quick IMO
There's no doubt that's a big reason why I believe in him. I had a front row seat to watch him develop and know what he brings to the table as a far as skill and more importantly between the ears. I didn't say he was ready for the JDS' or the Reems of the world just yet but I do feel he will be at the level at some point.

Yeah he's a good dude and smart I think if brought along slow he could be top ten Hw and I also watched his Hw title fight with Bobby Brent's I believe and I've fought for the Naafs you guys bring up top notch talent

I don't have any personal ties with Stipe, but I agree with NAAFS. He certainly looks to be the best HW prospect to come into the UFC since JDS, Cain and Carwin were brought in. Not saying he's on that level yet, but he certainly has the potential to be in a few years. I think right now he would have a very good shot at beating anybody out side of the top 10, but they should continue to bring him along slowly.
There are actually a number of decent HW prospects in the UFC at the moment. Stipe obviously, but you also have Shane Del Rosario, who'd be beyond the prospect stage already if not for career threatening injuries in a car accident, and Shawn Jordan, who was very impressive last night in Australia.
Again, it does kind of remind me of Cain, JDS and Carwin when they first arrived on the scene. We'll see, but the UFC's HW division looks to be better than it's ever been before, and they haven't even brought Cormier and Barnett on from Strikeforce.
Now if they could just bring that Russian dude over... :)
