Misconceptions in Lawler/Condit Debate

orcus -
Mad Xyientist - The fight should be a draw. If we are really splitting hairs this much 24 hours later with close to 50% on each side, neither fighter clearly bested the other, They competed evenly, and that's a draw

The polls here, and the scoring of the MMA sites and journalists, are nowhere near 50/50, are they? More like 3-1 in favor of Condit.

Yes.

Robbie was clearly off balance, that's for sure. I thought a punch did land, though.

Yeah. It was a legit knockdown. The Jack Slack article has a GIF from an alternate angle. Carlos wailed him.

Man fuck you Condit haters.
He could've easily win that fight but he CHOSE to stand and fight with Robbie, partially because he is sick of hearing you faggots calling him a runner or point fighter because of the Diaz fight.
So he stood and fought and won in most opinions . He could've ran the fifth round but he didn't and in fact, despite all of the Robbie sucking, he had Robbie staggered in the fifth.
He fought with more heart than any of you little bitch-type faggots EVER have ....and you loser creeps still call him names?
Fuck you, you lame ass cunts. Phone Post 3.0

lol at holy hack

Robbie literally faceplanted. He went headfirst into the canvas because the left hand caught him off guard and screwed with his equilibrium. Phone Post 3.0

You literally have no way of objectively measuring damage. Even 30% strikes do damage. Now if the volume wasnt so onesided, you could make the argument that Lawlers knockdown and 5th round rally should count for more than Condits volume

But Condit outlanded him 3-1. That is just a dramatic difference, and its not like Condit did no damage at all, Lawler ate a flying knee, he got wobbled by a left hook etc, Lawlers face didnt exactly look unscratched

You're wrong. The only way to objectively measure damage is observe the fighter being hit. If there's damage being done it's visible. If their face is cut or busted up, if their leg is swelling from kicks you can see it. More importantly is the reaction of the fighter being hit. If you get wobble punch to the head, you can tell a knockout is close. It's old school boxing shit, you always look at the fighter's legs to see when he's been hit hard. If he's limping from leg kicks you can tell the damage is accumulating. A fighter taking considerable damage will always react to it.

Robbie wasn't being hurt by 90% of Condit's kicks. He took it all and kept coming forward. The kicks were used to maintain distance and avoid being KO'd by punches. Even Condit admits to that gameplan post fight.
