Quiznos preparing to file bankruptcy: report

The Wall Street Journal is reporting: Sandwich chain Quiznos is preparing to file for bankruptcy-court protection within weeks as it contends with unhappy franchisees and a $570 million debt load, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter.

That's what they get for putting one goddamn layer of meat in a $8 sandwich. Good riddance. Phone Post 3.0

penn station ate their lunch...

I remember when Quiznos first came around they had massive subs. Big as your arm. Then all of a sudden their subs were smaller then Subway....

They are basically Subway with better tasting sandwiches.  Not sure why they failed so bad compared to subway.  Must be a corporate thing.

Crashdt - They deserve it after those stupid fuckin rat squirrel commercials...

those commercials were great!

This and the size of their sandwich were their downfall. Phone Post 3.0

I like them better than Subway, but there are plenty of places to get sandwiches these days.

I don't really know who their customer-base is. It's not terribly healthy food, it's not really unhealthy, and it's not really "fast food." Sandwiches are overrated in every way.

Guess I'll be toasting my own sandwiches in the near future. We really are living through the apocolypse Phone Post 3.0

I think they failed for two reasons: whole they were better than subway, the quality didn't justify the relatively exhorbinant price.

Secondly they didn't know what they wanted to be. They wanted to be a premium sub joint, but they also wanted to beat subway at their own game. Phone Post 3.0

I dunno, I think Subway is better. At least, the ones around me.

By us, we've had Penn Station, Jersey Mikes, and Firehouse Subs all pop up the last few years. All of them have bigger, better sandwiches than Quiznos for about the same price.

Quiznos started going downhill once Subway started toasting their sandwiches

Two near my house shut down.,.. They were terrible... Phone Post 3.0

Yeah pretty much. It seems like for a couple of years they were good, then the other guys came in with better stuff for the same price.

I stopped at one somewhere near Hays, Kansas. Had to pull over again about 20 minutes later to make mud.

I am sure if Quiznos paid their workers $15 per hour they would not have gone bankrupt.
