MMA Expo Presents the ADCC/Abu Dhabi Pro (Toronto)

2010 Abu Dhabi Pro World Jiu Jitsu Championships

Riccardo,

I need some claricifaction on the rules for someof our competitors. I trield looking at the mma website, but that directs you to another website with 2 different rulesets. One for Gi and one for No-Gi.

The question is:

For the Abu Dhabi PRO Jiu Jitsu (Gi) tournament. We are following IBJJF Rules? (Can Openers, Heel hooks are NOT allowed)

For the ADCC Submission Canadian Qualifier (No-Gi) we are following WGC No-Gi rules? (Can Openers and Heel hooks are allowed)

Thanks for your response.

As far as I know we are using full ADCC rules. The events are being sanctioned by the OGA, Ontario Grappling Alliance. You are correct regarding the Abu Dhabi Pro Rules. We have now combined the divisions for the Abu Dhabi Pro tournament. It will be White/Blue than Purple/Brown/Black combined.

I have to check about the Can Openers if that is still a legal technique.

Some questions.

1. Is there a discount if you compete in both tournaments? $140 for two tournaments is pretty steep.

2. Are there skill divisions for the ADCC no gi tournament?

3. Where are the rules? I need to know if someone is going to try to take my knee off with heelhooks.

Some questions.

1. Is there a discount if you compete in both tournaments? $140 for two tournaments is pretty steep.
-At this time, there is no discount offered. The Abu Dhabi Pro and ADCC are two different entities.

2. Are there skill divisions for the ADCC no gi tournament?
-The ADCC tournament is an open event. This is for people looking to compete at the highest level.

3. Where are the rules? I need to know if someone is going to try to take my knee off with heelhooks.
-The rules are pretty much the exact same as the ADCC except for a few.Heelhooks are not allowed

Thanks for the quick reply.

The first 3 minutes are no points for the ADCC no gi, right?

Also, I went to http://www.abudhabipro.ca/rules.html and the rules look like standard IBJJF, except slams from guard aren't listed as illegal techniques. Are you allowed to slam from guard?

ostabjj, I think the slamming is illegal. I will check

Riccardo,

According to the direction given on the MMA Expo website - When you click on www.adccregionals.com it directs you to the World Grappling Circuit website. In th rules section for No-Gi it states that heel hooks are allowed:

http://www.worldgrapplingcircuit.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=100&Itemid=167

I take it we are folling IBJJF rules instead?

KyokushinandBJJ, we are updating that. For the rules for ADCC, please follow what I have posted above.

Thanks for the clarification - I will pass it along to our members that are participating.

No problem and thank you. Please tell your team mates to Pre-Register as soon as they can. Pre-Registering will make their weigh in process much faster so they can go rehydrate and than enjoy the EXPO
