Consistent with a recent statutory amendment, by passage of HB 501, which updated the authority of the Division of Professional Regulation, the Department of State, in accordance with 28 Del.C. Ch. 1, proposes to strike the existing regulations related to boxing, sparring matches and exhibitions in their entirety and establish new combative sports rules and regulations governing boxing and mixed martial arts.

My understanding is that they have passed or are already scheduled to go into effect
Thanks for posting this, Joseph.
I won't comment on what one may understand; just posting information contained in an email initiated by Jean Betley, License Investigator III, Delaware Department of State, from 9:45 AM this morning stating "The proposed regulations for Boxing and combative sports can be viewed on-line."
don't freak out, just what I think I was told... :)
Joseph Cunliffe,
Good to see that you're still around.
Thank you for posting Joseph. I was just about to do this. If you read the proposed Pro Rules, they are a travesty. The people in charge of DE have no clue. Myself and several others have spent hours upon hours of our own time trying to educate these people and they still come out with this crap. It is so frusterating. I encourage everybody who wants decent MMA in DE to attend the meeting on Dec. 8th.
Yep, I'm still around.
I think attending the meeting on Dec 8 is a good idea, however, I caution those who may go in with excessive passion for the sport, or who want to make it all about them (their promotion, for example), as it can be seen as aggressive by the less educated, which would not be good.
ttt
I agree. Just a tough pill to swallow, after all the education we have already done. I really feel like their intent here is to just not have MMA take place in the state, which is cool, but just say so, don't hold up the fighters and Promoters in limbo. I feel like they claim to have done alot of research about MMA around the country and are trying to be inline with other states, last I checked New Jersey, MD, and Pennsylvania were only 3 states. Delaware is putting themselves inline with these states but away from the rest of the country.
Congrats Virginia MMA, you are benefiting greatly by these peoples decisions.
Anything new on the PA front Joe?
Sirb hasn't sent anything to the mailing list, so I guess the wait is still on to ratify the rules.
