On February 26th and March 5th, the Maryland state government (House and Senate committees, respectively) will hold hearings to approve proposed legislation that would legalize both amateur and professional MMA in the state.
I have been asked to testify at both sessions, which is at once an honor and tremendous responsibility. Specifically, I've been asked to come up with numbers that would show how the Maryland economy (and by extension from tax revenue the state itself) would benefit from legalization.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY NUMBERS OR INFORMATION THAT COULD BE OF USE ON THIS MATTER, PLEASE EMAIL ME: luke.thomas@gmail.com
This is a huge opportunity for the DC/MD/VA tri-state area and a big opportunity to develop the already burgeoning MMA scene in Maryland.
Your help - and ttt's - is greatly appreciated.
contact nick lembo at the new jersey state athletic control board.
I've got to go to class but I'll figure out a way to help. I worked in the Maryland House and I know a thing or two.
Excellent. Thanks siouxNYC and ValeTudo020

let me know if I can help. I am in VA and may be able to help.
ttt to put the MMA in Maryland.
My brother (Last Don) will be on this thread later. He is a prosecutor in Baltimore and wrote his senior thesis on MMA (it was published). His understanding of Maryland legislature may help a bit more plus he's still in the state (I'm at school).
With concerns to the revenue, research the difference between a state's revenue in regards to athletics (especially boxing) before legalization and after. Also, look into Ballroom boxing in Baltimore from it's revenue to its sanctioning and promotion. Ballroom boxing is quite popular in the city but over the years, it's begun to lose its appeal. Look to be a friend of boxing, not an enemy.
If you any immediate questions just let me know.
