I'm a television producer looking to start a career in MMA. Any suggestions on a starting point? I have producing, writing, shooting, and editing experience.
Why dont you make a documentary that the public would be interested in. Like the smashing machine that was done by HBO.
I will be awaiting my royalty check for giving you an idea.
I kicked around the idea of doing a southeast USA MMA documentary about a year and a half ago. What I would really like to do is get a full time job covering the events or producing instructional videos or something. I'm just tired of producing television that I have little passion for.
Send some sample writing into some sites/publications.
That's how it starts.
I'm not sure there ARE full time jobs covering events...most people do it as a side hobby and make little or no money. And most fighters don't have a whole lot of money to put into instructional videos, so it's not a real lucrative thing...
Don't mean to be negative, I'm sure there's opportunities for you, but just from my own experience and talking to others, this sport isn't at a point yet where it can really support a lot of people.
Ring Girl:
I read your profile. Have you produced mma projects before? Just curious.
