MMA Journalism/representation in the UK

Alright - some might not get as raged about this as I just have, but give it a chance - you might. I was mentioning to a mate that there's a kid in our gym who's really good and caused a bit of a stir a few years back with a 'cage fight' he had. It was a grappling exhibition on a local pro show, in truth. So I dug up the article and shit - I don't remember it being as prejudice and plain fucking wrong as it is. It's the Daily Mail - so kinda expected it to go down thus.

I will say - as I am sure you guys all know, the kid is one of the nicest you could hope to meet. Insane ground game (for a Brit) and I am certain he'll be a pro you hear about in a few years. He's obsessed with the sport and is all technique. Great to see.

Anyway - here's the article - get your rage ready - and this is what we're still fighting against in the UK.

Shamed to be British with this journalism. The bias from the quotes is embarrassing, the "MMA Fighter" that didn't understand a grappling match? The Daily Mail wrote another BS article from around the same time also http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2040005/Child-cage-fighting-Police-action-bouts-involving-children-aged-just-8-9.html
Cool too hear the guys still training though VU Phone Post 3.0

The comments on the article are genuinley horrific and just shows what we're working with in the UK. I played Rugby as a kid and was knocked out wll into double figures. 2 week off go again. Like nothing happened.

My son now trains MMA as well as playing football and while he's not taken to jits very well he loves wrestling and striking.
