ok, so i'm all for MMA going mainstream and getting as big as possible. but, i think i just saw it go too far..
my kid was watching a show on one of the Disney channels called I'm In The Band. on the show, band start watching tv and all the sudden, they say "mixed martial arts is on!!" at this point, they show the tv and Wolf from the newest American Gladiators show is standing in front of a sign that says "Mixed Martial Arts Federation" cutting a big pro wrestling-style promo about beating up his opponent. i didn't know whether to laugh or be horrified! what do you think is to far mainstream for MMA to go?
I saw a commercial a few months back of that icarly girl mma fighting some other chick.. lol
maybe it was more than just a few month.. just saying
Kimbo was on Nickelodeon
How about going to Toys R us and seeing a toy UFC octagon?
i saw the icarly thing too. do you guys think it's a GOOD thing though? maybe it'll get kids into MMA and we'll have kids that'll be the fighters in 15 years starting to train their MMA now and be ridiculously skilled by the time they get old enough. either way, it's just weird to see it on Nickelodeon or Disney channel...especially when they make it look silly and WWE-like...
I think its good as long as the mainstream public understand the difference between MMA and Professional Wrestling.
TheOne - I think its good as long as the mainstream public understand the difference between MMA and Professional Wrestling.
that's what i was thinking. that's why i wasn't thrilled with the way it was portrayed on the show. it was TOTALLY made to look WWE.
