HI,
I just noticed o wikipedia that Arlovski earned 1.5 MUSD in the fight against Fedor, with fedor earning 400KUSD. This of course what has been disclosed by CSAC.
before i read this I thought Brock with 400KUSD received the highest base pay (disclosed by confidential source) but since I follow mma for 2 years now i guess I missed some things haha..
Is this 1.5MUSD the highest disclosed pay in MMA ever or have there been higher (disclosed) pays?
ps: doubt arlovski still gets that paid nowadays :)
yes i noticed now, and brock also in his debut.. but1.5 MUSD for arlovski... and only like for 1 minute or so before hewas diving face down into the canvass.. thats serious money
but on the other hand... he also lost his soul...
so the price of his soul effedctively was 1.5MUSD
brett soul was way cheaper I guess hehe
Going into that fight a lot of people were convinced he could take Fedor out. Hell, even after it people acted like Arlovski was killing him standing up when in reality Fedor slipped like virtually every punch.
I'm glad Andrei picked up one last major pay day before things started falling off. I only hope that he hasn't burned it all.
Yoshida and Ogawa earned 2 mil each for their fight
ogawa 2 MUSD...shit i hope its JPY haha tha tidiot that never wants to shake hands.. and had to face an upset fedor afterwards haha
GSP earns a minimum of 2Mil per fight. Brock probably got more at UFC100. Hughes got a 1Mil bonus for his bout against Royce..
When Rashad and Rampage fought after tuf, Rampage got 1.4Mil and Rashad got more if I remember correctly (they sold 1Mil PPV so it boosted the pay).
A year ago there were 18 UFC fighters making more than a million per year (not including sponsormoney) and that number is probably bigger now.
Here is a good explanation of the PPV bonus system (details from Couture)
http://mmapayout.com/2007/10/inside-the-ufc-bonus-system/
Basicly Couture said he get paid in millions per fight (years ago) and that locker-room bonuses (on top of the PPV cut and the normal salary) can be in several hundreds of thousands.
thanks joe, thats a shit load of money...
wonder how much the reem will make after he beat fedor and cain when he is ufc champ.
If you are looking for the largest total compensation, it's probably the post-TUF Zuffa guys. If you are looking for the largest lump sum (before back-end bonuses), Yoshida & Ogawa reportedly combined for something in the $4,000,000 range.
i recall couture saying he wanted 6-10 million to fight fedor
what about Battleship
Rickson was the leader for a while back in the day with the Funaki fight guaranteed purse.
