Marcus Davis makes top 10.... nice.
Sheesh. Kid at 160? No BJ?
Davis doesn't belong in any top ten unless and until he beats a top-ten-caliber opponent. Paul Taylor wasn't it.
Cro Cop after losing to two unranked opponents in a row shouldn't be in the top ten either. If either Gonzaga or Kongo had been ranked at the time, I would say keep him in based on his long established track record.
But two straight unranked upset losses are extremely devaluing.
And Kid should be dropped from LW soon enough since he will begin fighting in K-1's new 138-lbs. division.
How is Shogun #1 at LHW? I'm not saying he is not the best at the weight but surely the #1 should be the champ in either Pride or UFC.
"I'm not saying he is not the best at the weight but surely the #1 should be the champ in either Pride or UFC."
- He was the de facto champ in Pride, not Wanderlei, ever since winning the MW GP, where Wanderlei lost and Shogun then beat the guy who beat Wanderlei.
Shogun hasn't lost at 205 since.
Since 2005, Shogun had been considered Pride's #1 205-er, not Wanderlei.
The only reason Shogun never got a title shot was because his senior teammate was still officially the champ.
Randy should be #2. Nog 3, Barnett 4.
Shogun will lose by decision to Griffin and Rampage will become #1. Along with the rules and cage, Randy will be cornering Griffin and have the perfect gameplan for him. None of the Pride fighters have looked good since joining UFC. And on a side note, Lawler will ko Ninja in Hawaii this weekend and I will be there to witness it.
"None of the Pride fighters have looked good since joining UFC. "
- You just said yourself if Shogun loses, "Rampage will become #1."
"Randy should be #2. Nog 3"
- Randy has not surpassed Nog by any measure - either recently or overall. Randy should be #3.
"You just said yourself if Shogun loses, "Rampage will become #1."
Rampage came from WFA
"Sheesh. Kid at 160? No BJ?"
How in the world could BJ possibly be ranked in the top 10 at any WC at this time?
He has no wins over top 15 competition at any weight in years.
"You just said yourself if Shogun loses, "Rampage will become #1."
If Shogun loses the person who beats him would become #1 and Shogun would become #2 (obviously).
Swap Barnett and Couture.
"If Shogun loses the person who beats him would become #1 and Shogun would become #2 (obviously)."
So I guess Appalachian St. should have become the #5 team in the country after beating then ranked #5 Michigan.
3. Antonio Carvalho, Congrats Tony!
I see your arguments but, #1 should be the champ, Shogun becomes #1 when he beats the champ.
"Rampage came from WFA"
- Yeah, sure. And Fedor comes from Bodog.
When people associated Rampage with any org. before he came into the UFC, they immediately thought "WFA" and his fight with Lindland.
No way did they think of his fights with Wanderlei, Shogun, Arona, Igor, Vovchanchyn, Sakuraba, Chuck...
Btw, Rampage himself has just said in multiple interviews leading up to the Hendo fight that the only belt he ever cared about winning was Pride's and that title was the one that meant the most to him.
Here's just one quote:
"Well I never really chased the [UFC] championship. The only one I did want real bad was that Pride belt."
(Source: http://www.insidefighting.com/betweenRoundsDisp.aspx?uid=3905)
He has also stated as much in multiple other interviews as well if you'd care to google.
So I guess Rampage considered himself a "Pride fighter" as well.
"I see your arguments but, #1 should be the champ, Shogun becomes #1 when he beats the champ."
- Okay, by that same rationale then, Arona became #1 when he beat the champ, Wanderlei.
Then Shogun beat Arona, who according to your own standard had just become #1, to then become #1 himself.
Since then he hasn't lost at 205.
Someone at MMAWEEKLY hates Nick Thompson.
"If Shogun loses the person who beats him would become #1 and Shogun would become #2 (obviously)."
LMAO @ "obviously".
Granpa is correct
"Rampage came from WFA"
LOL. Yeah and Crocop is a K-1 fighter. Anderson a Shooto fighter. Matt Hughes is a representative of Extreme Challenge and of course Hendo = the UFC.
Of course nobody really sees it that way unless is supports their agenda.
OK so why no BJ in any ranking? Is Sherk dropped because of the positive test or is he just not considered top 10?
