There will be two sponsorship prizes to win from REDSTAR BJJ and MONTREAL GRAPPLING which are trips to the 2012 IBJJF Pans in California. The sponsorship prizes goes to the winners of the Montreal Grappling Grand Prix's -170 & +170 Purple/Brown/Black Absolutes. The sponsorship includes airfare to California, registration to the IBJJF Pans, accommodation in California, and a REDSTAR BJJ GI.
Round Robin Gi Tournament:
Men
Divisions: White, Blue, Purple/Brown/Black Belt
Weights: -150, -170, -190, +190
3 Absolutes: Blue, -170 & +170 Purple/Brown/Black Belt Absolutes
Women
Divisions: White, Blue+
Weights: Absolute

TIME: Registration and weigh-in: 8am to 10am
Rules Clinic: 10:30am
Competition: 11am
Cost: $50 to compete. $10 to spectate.
Length of Matches: All matches in the round robin and elimination phases are 5 minutes in length.
There will be no videotaping allowed at our events due to the circumstances that we will be recording the complete event to release to the public, free of charge, over the internet.
ROUND ROBIN FORMAT: All divisions with 8 contestants or more will be separated into groups to allow those competitors to have a minimum of at least 4 matches at our tournament.
Following the round robin, the best grapplers from each division will compete in a single-elimination format to crown a winner. Depending on the number of competitors in each division we might be holding quarterfinals, semifinals or only finals.
RULES: We will follow the IBJJF rules.
There will be a rules’ meeting before the tournament starts.
Points: Takedown, Sweep or Knee on the belly 2 points
Passing the guard 3 points
Mount or Back control 4 points

TTT for a new way of thinking about BJJ and the tournaments we compete in.
We have been getting more and more Americans and Ontario residents lately and would love to keep the increase going. It would be more than appreciated to see the Ontario and especially the Toronto area come out to these tournaments.
Splitting the gas money and hotel money amongst a few teammates really cancels out a lot of the expenses people believe there are in competing in Montreal. I've made the trip out to Ontario, especially Toronto a lot to compete and would love to see the support returned to Quebec's first tournament they started themselves.

Montreal Grappling just finished catching up with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Fernando Zulick 'Gringo' who owns Action Reaction MMA in Toronto. He is also slated to fight Daniel Covel from Team Balance/Marcelo Garcia Academy in the Black Belt Gi Super Fight January 21st at the Montreal Grappling Grand Prix.
