Mother in law laid off .....

My mother in law, who is 100% Korean, doesn't speak much English, was laid off. Her company furnishes products for the govt. the shutdown caused them to lay people off.

But this isn't a govt shit down thread. She has nobody. Her husband passed away 8 years ago in his sleep. (Before I was in the picture) her two daughter don't like her much. She isn't fond of me...but she loves my son. I couldn't help but get emotional with her when she received the news. I gave her $200 to hold her over until we can get her back to work.

You don't realize the true person, until these difficult times come. We may not have the best relationship, but I'd move her in with me if I had to. No way of let my sons gramma be homeless or whatever.

Sorry OG. /end rant Phone Post 3.0

Lol I will protect you my friend...you missed the part that they're Korean. Which means they're confusionably retardedly crazy. The mom is a super cleaner though. That would be a plus.

Just hurts my heart, alot, to see someone close to me in tough times. Phone Post 3.0

Well I for one hope you have a happy ending Phone Post 3.0

Dude. My dad is a government contract engineer. Back in May when all this shit really started he got laid off. The week of my wedding. He just got a job making a fraction of what he was. Sometimes I just wish I could fix everything. Phone Post

Why does she not speak English?

Man....this is the most frustrating of all...she's been in the country 20 years. Just never learned to properly speak it. She can somewhat get by, but I can only make out about 40% I what she says.

I know we all have shitty stories. Mines no more deserving than anyone else's. just had to vent. I wish we all could do something to help. Phone Post 3.0

My mother in law is afghan and does/doesn't speak English. Like you said, enough to get by but not enough where I can look away while she's speaking and still understand. Good on you bud and good luck. Phone Post 3.0

Was her husband white? Did you marry a hapa?

Her husband was military. Met her while he was in Korea back in the day. And I have no clue what hapa means Phone Post 3.0

Thanks man. It's tough, having the language barrier. But you work with it because family is family. Phone Post 3.0

So what exactly did she do at work?

Does she have a network of Korean friends?

It's slang that mean half. Half asian/half white.
