I don't know if I should be impressed that he is able to compete at the high level without good trainers, or disappointed by the negligence.
Mousasi = #1
Jamiee - Yeah, his stand-up is world class and his ground game is at a black belt level (the way he generates scrambles and hits good submissions/sweeps)
To think he's acquired those skill sets without full-time trainers in those disciplines is mind-boggling
His ground game is not even close to black belt level, but whatever
TheVileOne - Why doesn't Mousasi have these trainers? Can he not afford them?
He said in the interview about there not being a lot of good BJJ, MMA trainers in Holland or something like that. But he said he's planning to go train with Hendo and at other gyms near Orange County.
I think the gist was that he didn't have those trainers before because he doesn't like being away from home, but he now knows that to get to that next level and be a champion, he has to get that type of training. I'm all for it. Dude has so much potential.
I'm off to do some last-minute shopping for a pot luck and gift exchange at work so someone can hopefully do better than me.

I think jacare disagrees
His ground is phenomenal. How can anyone say it isnt.
I've never seen someone get beat the fuck up in someone's guard like King Mo. That was hideous.
ThePoopWizard -Huge Gegard fan, but I suppose you didnt watch the fight?guitarra -I think jacare disagreesJamiee - Yeah, his stand-up is world class and his ground game is at a black belt level (the way he generates scrambles and hits good submissions/sweeps)His ground game is not even close to black belt level, but whatever

Ya watched it live, he got put in a bad position by a much larger stronger opponent, but over all he butt raped osp the striking was clear gegard, and ground was 70 30 on position control and submission Attempts the shoulder lock he had on osp... Osp is lucky he got out

And I watched the jacare one too sorry misunderstood, jacare could pass much and then got aggressive and got koed. Mousasi isn't world dominating bjj but he's a black belt and he isn't getting tapped anytime soon
heroder - Mousasi is probably one of the laziest fighters ever he can say the same about himself.]
He suffers the Shogun problem. So much potential but chooses the comfort of training at certain locations instead of getting out of his comfort zone and training at better gyms
Don't compare him to Shogun.. Rofl
jujubre -MontyG - if yall honestly believe that he doesnt have anyone instructing him anything I think I'm going to move to the OG for good
we all know he has trainers. he trains from time to time with fedor in russia or with golden glory in holland.
but someone from his level should have trainers dedicated to him.
He was never a part of Golden Glory his gym was the M-1 gym in Amsterdam and he trained with the SlAMM team for thai boxing and Team Benelux for MMA, but has since left that gym and it's managers.
Dude isn't overrated when is the last time he has even had a black eye?
awesome news
Chaz Johnson - Dude isn't overrated when is the last time he has even had a black eye? <img src="/images/phone/apple.png" alt="Phone Post" border="0" style="vertical-align:middle;"/>
and still has never been dropped by a strike

This needs someone to make a "didn't train lol" gif!
Seriously though it is good to hear he is changing things up. Major untapped potential there atm.
daba - probably watches instructional videos of dan the wolfman on youtube then tranes.
He's not lying, he largely trains with his brother and friends of his.
Insane, but just reflects the raw ability Gegard has. I'm not sure MMA is his be-all end-all as opposed to something he just does 'cuz it pays well and is fun.
