On Saturday former Strikeforce and Dream light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi dropped down to middleweight vs. former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. Mousasi lost in the Fight of the Night.

Afterwards, he didn't say he had the flu, or an injury to his boo boo.
Mousasi could have cited ring rust, as he hadn't fought since beating Ilir Latifi last April.
"Rhythm always helps, but I felt good in the fight," said Mousasi at the post-fight press conference as transcribed by MMAFighting. "I don’t think so."
Instead, Mousasi gave the sport a lesson in how to talk about defeat - he was honest.
"He was always a step ahead," said Gegard. "I just couldn’t get started."
"I don’t know about the scoring. Maybe I had one round, maybe two..."
Respect. And I think Mousasi has the capacity to learn from this fight and get even better. He's 28 and just entering his atheletic prime. Facing guys like machida, and hopefully learning from these experiences can make him even more dangerous in the future.

Agreed. I think with camps in the US he can only improve. With such variety in high class training partners and coaches to learn from. We should see him raise his game another notch.
Disappointed that Mousasi didn't pull it off, but he has time to climb back up again.
You must have watched a different fight. 49-46 was being generous
Yup, this ^^^
I scored it 49-46 but that one round was a toss up, really. Machida won the first half of it and Mousasi finished strong with ground and pound, reverals, some decent control...
Other than that, though.... can't for the life of me figure out which round Moose could have possibly won.
