Movies you avoided, but turn out to be amazing

Watchmen

I would ask people what it's about. "Is it like X-Men?" I would ask.

"No, they don't really have super powers except for Dr Manhattan."

"Is Dr Manhattan the leader?" I ask

"No, he's kind of a part of the group but not really the leader."

"What kind of powers does he have?" I ask

"He's basically a god"

"Oh," I say "why does he need people without superpowers in the group?"

"It's hard to explain. He doesn't really do anything." They answer

With answers like these, I simply avoided it thinking it would be a boring, worthless superhero movie.

Well, I decided to watch it and to my surprise it's one of my favorite movies ever.

Boondock Saints. All my hipster friends constantly talked about how amazing the movie was, etc. I figured it was just another overhyped movie like the godfather. turned out to be really good. second one was god awful though.
