MP3 and Windows media problems

Whenever I play any mp3s using Windows Media Player, the song always slows down and then speeds up, then plays at normal speed in the beginning. WAV and WMA files play just fine. I can't figure it out.

The same MP3s play fine in other players. I know I can use these other players, but I'm irritated by this and want it fixed... also it burns cds that way.

Windows Media Player is nice.

wmp actually plays in the background of a game much more nicely than my other MP3 players.

I use WMP for video. It works great. For audio, though, I can't imagine using anything else but Winamp.
