Murilo Bustamante for UFC Hall of Fame

How is Murilo Bustamante not in the UFC hall of fame already? This was shocking to me. Specially considering he was really one of the first mma fighters where he was using multiple disciplines such as boxing, wrestling and jiu-jitsu to win fights.

I dare you to go back and watch Murilo’s fights and you will see that he wasn’t just a pioneer of MMA, he was also a Multiple time Jiu-Jitsu world champion. Having battled the top guys of the era in Jiu-Jitsu and also represented Jiu-Jitsu in MMA. A true legend.

Here are some of his accomplishments:

1) The first Brazilian UFC middleweight champion

2) The second middleweight UFC Champion ever with successful title defense

3) UFC and Pride FC Veteran

4) Co Founder of Brazilian Top Team

5) Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion

We have opened a change.org campaign to get enough signatures to see if we can make this change. I wish that the MMA community can help us out with this; here is the link if you would like to help us:

How is being a co founder of BTT irrelevant? So many great fighters came out of that academy; Minotauro, Paulo Filho, Ricardo Arona just to name a few.

How many times did he fight in the UFC? I don't think he fought enough to merit the HOF. He was a great fighter though. It would have been fun to watch his reign play out in the UFC MW division had he stayed.

Zuffa threw him away like he was garbage just because he tried to leverage Pride's offer when he was negotiating his contract renewal. He was the current middleweight champ and, at least in my opinion, one of the most exciting fighters on the roster, but instead of trying to hold onto him and pay him his worth, they let him go because his name wasn't Liddell or Ortiz.

There is no way Dana Egg would eve=r let Murillo into their fake Hall of Fame for the same reason he won't let SFrank Shamrock in.

Murillo is on of the reasons the "Championship Clause" exists. After his Big John screwjob, he refused to fight unles his contract was renegotiated, thereby holding up the belt and the division for a long time. Then he vacated and went to Pride.

Dana holds grudges like white on rice.

I do understand brother about Dana holding grudges but he was 3-1 in the UFC; was the Second UFC Middleweight Champion and had a successful title defense. Also he co founded one of the best mma teams at that time.

we started a Change.org campaign if you guys can help us out I would greatly appreciate it. Here is the link:

He was great but he didn't spend enough time in the UFC. 3-1 doesn't = the Hall of Fame, in my opinion. Also, he's the one that chose to leave when he had the beginning of a Hall of Fame career in place. I like Murilo and I respect Murilo but he didn't do enough in the UFC and it was his choice to leave when he did.

Absolutely.

That man had Mario Sperry's hand in his underwear countless times.

Nobody else has sacrificed that much for the sport.

For my understanding they wanted Matt Lindland and Dave Menne to be champions and when Murilo won they didn't give him an extended contract  they had him on a per fight deal. So when Pride offered him a set contract he went there. As you know Pride eventually folded but it does not take away of the fact that he was the Second Middleweight Champion and the First Brazilian Champion under the Zuffa Rule.
