My Biggest Motivational Problem (gym)

Since 1991 I have been in and out of gyms with some degree of seriousness. Over the course of the years I have had goals of both bulking up and/or getting as strong as possible. And I've met with some pretty fair successes in that time - always natural.

The problem is that when I get hard-core involved with the gym I tend to raise the bar too high. I end up getting joint inflamation or some sort of tendon/ligament flare-up. Stuff like that makes it hard to keep the pace I set for myself. Or worse yet my supplements will be pricey and then something will happen financially that keeps me from affording them. So I quit them for awhile, get depressed about my results and then just quit totally.

For the first time in my life I just want a manageable workout that I can do with the objective being to get lean. I'm not going for size. I just want to be able to do this workout and forget about it. And I want limited dependency on supplements (if any). I want this to be a lifestyle thing.

One other consideration - both of my knees are shot from college sports. I can do anything up impact related cardio. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Is fat loss your primary goal?

yes. and the quality of life that goes along with it.

Ive been looking alot into "metabolic condititioning" lately. Seems a good blend of strength, cardio & mucular endurance, this is the program i started doing:

I tend to raise the bar too high.

Don't do front shoulder raises with a bar,use dumbells instead...
