It doesnt make sense for the UFC to cut Kimbo without giving him at least one more fight. I think his name still good for a couple ppv buys. I think it's possible that Dana actually likes Kimbo and knows that having him get blasted in the UFC is not good for the marketability of Kimbo and his financial future. The UFC would only ruin what cred he has left as there are no fights in the UFC he can win. Dana knows that Kimbo need to go to Dream or some other promotion where Kimbo can win some fights and make some dough. I think its quite possible it was a mercy killing.

Dream isnt a competing promotion in the sense that its any threat to the UFC and Kimbo will never be confused for a potential champion. I think he's looking out for the well being of Kimbo.
BeefSupreme - I theorize that Kimbo simply has:
No legs
No ground game
No gas tank
No KO power
and thus...
No reason for him to be in the top org in the sport
Or maybe it was some magic bullet theory like OP claims, w/e gets ya through the day...
yet he's a bigger draw than 9 out of 10 fighters on the UFC roster....Why cut a guy that's 1-1 in the UFC and a huge draw? The fight with Mitrione was entertaining. It's not like it was a boring fight and nobody wants to see the guy again.
If you read BJ penn new book, Dana White is never really for the fighters (most of the time) and he definitely never for other MMA organizations.
