The UGGP is short for The Underground Grand Prix. It's an amateur MMA event spawned on this site in 2007 when user Supercan made a thread titled "I have a dream to fight....once."
I read the thread and volunteered to take him on if he came to Ohio to fight me so he agreed. An entire event formed around us and Monte Cox picked us up to fight on his ICE card.
Since then other promoters and myself have put together UGGP's for the members to face off against each other and even other members of popular MMA forums like Sherdog, Bullshido and the upcoming event for Reddit's /r/MMA community.
The idea is for guys who've always wanted to fight but for some reason just haven't had the time or inclination to pursue it before. This event lets these rookies pair up with someone as equally as possible, gives them about 6 months to train and gives them a place to fight and some cool gear and support from sponsors in the MMA community.
The last time one of these events happened was the summer of 2009. Some other members started trying to get this going again so I stepped in to help out since I've run a couple of these before.
These events can really be a lot of fun. I had a great time when I fought on the first UGGP and I've had a lot of fun helping get this event off the ground. I'm really looking forward to the afterparty with these crazy bastards once the fights are over.
Anybody is welcome to attend. The event will be in Las Vegas on Sept 12th with TUFF-N-UFF at the Cannery Hotel and Casino. There should also be a live stream for 9.99 that you can access through www.tuffnuff.com on fight day.

It's all good. I really enjoy this place and TUFF-N-UFF so bringing the two together again is always a good time.
Good luck in the fights.

Do most of you train in a proper gym?
If so, doing what and for how long?

UK Asylum - Good luck in the fights.I have trainer at several legit gyms. Right now I'm doing the majority of my training out if my house. I'm a NASM CPT and I basically have full mma gym capabilities except for a cage. I have people I've met over the years helping out with everything. We have a pretty healthy little team haha. Poor Boys Top Team!

When I did the first UGGP I was training at Jorge Gurgels gym and had trained a little with Matt Thorntons people out at SBGI Portland. I trained a bit with UGer SPROUT at that gym as well.
My opponent, Supercan, was training with Cole Miller and his crew in Colorado IIRC. I believe UGer Kid Justice also trained with him.
DreamerMMA -Nice. As I said in the original thread, I did a lot of training with Brian Cobb in the past. Was part of his camps for Rad Martinez and Drew Fitckett. Also trained with Roberto Vargas (Bellator), and Tommy Vargas (Tachi). My buddy Cory (Fistymisty) and I were the only amateurs that were allowed to spar with the pros. It was cool but it was a steep learning curve hahaha.

Late night training tonight
Went and trained with some new guys from another team yesterday. Went really well. Got some good looks and advice. Going to go workout with them again this afternoon to see if we can't come up with more of the same! 37 days!!
