Prepare for the vote downs to start trickling in. Or this thread will just sink like a rock.

Good to know. Mine went up that much and my deductible went up to 6000. Hope your scenario is more common than mine. I am not happy about it Phone Post 3.0

Yes some people will pay less, some people will pay more.

Thats how every policy ever works.

Gross exaggeration. No way your annual cost went down by $1K, but your deductible rose an additional $6K. lol Unless you work at McDonalds.

It's not an exaggeration, similar thing is happening to me.

My group plan cancelled. I need to buy a new plan which will have a higher premium. My deductible is going from $2500 to 6-8k and no more copays, EVERYTHING out of pocket until the deductible is exhausted.

did you get pictures of a bigfoot and yeti getting on a ufo too?

I'm not American, so explain this to me. So you had a group plan through work, but it's cancelled because of Obamacare, so now you're shopping for insurance on your own? And the best insurance you can find has a 6k deductible!? Holy fucking shit, America healthcare is so fucked up.

I am the employer and I had a group plan for myself and my employees that has been cancelled due to Obamacare. The new standards set forth under Obamacare require EVERYONE to have coverage for pregnancy, mamograms, etc... (even post menapausal women and men).

I called my insurance broker and he explained what he has been experiencing and that what I should expect is increased premiums. He went into great detail about the deductible. The cheapest plan available will have a deductible in the 6-8k range. Under our previous plan we would pay a $30 co-pay for routine visits, $50 for specialists.. Now the copay will be eliminated and we will be responsible to pay out of pocket for everything until the deductible has been exhaused.

That's not a description of American healthcare. lol. That's a description of him shopping for a bad rate and taking it rather than looking around more. No single man pays that unless he's 75 with prior conditions.

And no way he pays that on the Affordable Healthcare Act. A single man with no kids who earns $45000 can qualify for some subsidies on the government plan, if he owns a home and car.

You're talking out of your ass.

I haven't "taken" anything yet. I have until January to sign into a new plan and I'll be waiting it out in hopes that this debacle collapses..

I have a professional insurance broker who knows EVERY viable option out there and reports to me with the data. That is absolutely what as of now is available under the ACA. There will be no subsidies available for me.

Why are existing plans being cancelled due to Obamacare?

Kamikaze Emu - Why are existing plans being cancelled due to Obamacare?

Because for some companies, the cost of their plans has gone up so much that it would be cheaper for them to cancel their plan and pay the penalty.

Kamikaze Emu - Why are existing plans being cancelled due to Obamacare?

Obamacare contained requirements that ALL insurance policy provide certain elements of coverage.

For example, maternity care, pediatrics, birth control, etc...

Since I'm a man I had no need for this kind of coverage, so I could eliminate it from my plan and save money.

Not the case anymore, so these plans which lack these elements of coverage are illegal and must be withdrawn from the market. That's what happened to me.

Yeah mine also which I don't understand. Although only about $200 a year less. Phone Post

Well, it's Jason as the OP, and going by most of the stuff he posts on here, I wouldn't believe him if he was standing in four feet of water and said his feet were wet.

And I find it hard to fathom that anyone with the name Authority Figure on an internet message board actually is.
