NAGA OHIO - A great event!
On Saturday, July 22, 2006 the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) made its debut in Columbus, Ohio. Over 538 grapplers from across the Midwest took to the mats and competed in what NAGA President Kipp Kollar called "The most pleasant tournament we ever ran".
With 170 Gi & No-Gi Divisions, Samurai Swords for all 1st place winners, a Gi Superfight between two of the top brown belts in the nation, NAGA Ohio was a tremendous success. A special thanks to Dustin Ware and Ray Blackburn who were the two individuals responsible for bringing NAGA to Ohio.
Congratulations to Steve Hall, a BJJ Brown Belt from Sarasota, FL who trains under Royce Gracie with Charles Dos Anjos. Steve defeated Robin Gieseler, who is based out of the Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Westerville, OH. Hall used two guard passes, a knee-on-belly and a four-point mount to win the match by points.
