Any news/results/stories for us weekend OT shifters? Phone Post

Anxious to hear about it myself! I hear it was a HUGE tournament! Phone Post

Yeah it was a fun event. 700+. The ref on Ring 2 screwed my 6yr old out of a win tho. Let the match go 3:05 long so that the other kid could finish her choke. My video clearly shows the proper time of the match. That was pretty upsetting.
Videos on FB. Other then that not a bad day for such a huge turn out.

reffing was real suspect. IMHO!

went till 9:30pm in a gym that was to small. Kip makes a ton of $$ and we pay for shitty conditions. Haoles ripping off the Hawaiians again.

sounds like they need to upgrade, or new tourney... dane? ;)

Everytime I went to take a piss I would see fuckers in the bathroom walking barefoot. WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!!!

and that bathroom floor was disgusting to say the least!

Been saying this for years....

Frat Warning...

The refs were too inconsistent on all kinds of different levels. Kids nearly getting their arms ripped off or out of sockets cause they say the kid seemed to be alright, then on the flip side (different ref) they stop it way too early for an ATTEMPTED choke..... In the past, I noticed a lot of coaches interjecting and doing all they could to ensure the kid's safety. This year, I only saw one. Did the gym's coaches not care enough to say anything? Or did I miss the memo and did bjj become a gentleman's unquestioned sport? MT, I'm hoping you laid into your ref for that stupidity WTF?

Agreed with the haole's being cheap asses by using a small crappy venue... BUT, for now, with 700+ competitors, how can a school NOT enter this tournament? The money should be relative imo, if you're gonna pay that kind of money, the venue should be way better.

WTF is with all the local bruddahs not using their slippers going to the bathroom? It's like they go to these things and forget that there's ring worm and other nazties waiting to be caught on the mat? Seriously WTF?

All in all, simply because of the turn out, it's hard to pass on it, but I'm hearing of something bigger and better coming to town next year....... keeping my fingers crossed ;0)

grapplers quest?

Part of the problem. #1 Local schools here are ran by assholes. Ive had to deal with the A.D.'s and in my experience most were cock suckers. Only let family or friends/certain "mma" events use their facilities,.. go back on there word, over charge. HS gym these days is $3000 to rent and they STILL wont rent it to you!
So its either HS gym $3g+ or Blaisedell $15g. They need to go with the exhibition hall and just be done with it there.
Tourny was fun and long. But for 700+ it went well. Pac Sub..150 *one one day and still finishing at 9pm.
Sad thing is the sand bagging. Still very evident and largely done by the same schools every year. So sad and desperate.
And you wrestlers who sand bag and go to the beginners division? I hope you get staph on your balls for sandbagging.

Fixed.

There should be no skill levels in competition. You're either good enough to compete or you're not. That would eliminate sandbagging altogether. Phone Post

The same complaints every tournament. Bad refs, points, sandbagging, too long. ICON format eliminated all of these problems. Phone Post

This format was used at the NOGI event in conjunction with Kempo Unlimited last year or the year before and every single competitor loved it. I know a few on this forum that didn't agree with the sub only format, but it really does run efficiently, giving all competitors a chance to fight everyone in their division. It also pushes everyone to fight for the sub instead of playing for points. There were some teams on Saturday coaching their ADULT competitors to stall and hold position to ride out the clock..... wtf

The major complaints are always the same:

Too expensive
ref/point issues
sandbagging
tournament takes too long

Why keep paying for the same experience over and over again? Phone Post

Reffing on my feet for 10+ hours was no fun. There was a lot of judoka sandbagging that I caught during registration. Phone Post
