Nate finishes that choke

Agreed...

95 degrees and 75% humidity plays a huge role.

Wasn't this an indoor arena? I would assume an indoor venue in UAE had air conditioning.

Indoors yes however indoors was hotter than outdoor, it was recorded at 120 degrees!! lol insane!!!

however they all had to deal with it

It's hard to guillotine somebody that knows how to not get guillotined.

Khabib puts his head where he wants for a living because he knows how to not get guillotined.

Very small chance Poirier could have finished Khabib with that choke either way.

I notice a lot of coulda, shoulda, woulda on this forum nowadays. Why can't people just appreciate talent for what it is?

Khabib done exactly what he should have done this weekend: made a guy with poor ground skills look amateurish. And that's no slight on Dustin - he tried hard and gave it his all. He had a punchers chance.

People have too much bias towards their favourite fighters nowadays. Khabib is an unbeaten champ in a tough-as-fuck sport. He's fought some special guys, and guess what, if he comes up against someone better than him (that can finish a choke). He'll lose (hooray)

Until then. Let's give credit where it's due.

that Poirier had on Khabib.

Diaz is a double Champ threat.

Not If you predict him to won beforehand. The CuRsE is realā€¦ or you just really suck at this

Because it builds up Nate. Khabib already has all the accolades and adoration. Plus itā€™s just an observation, canā€™t let Nate get a guillotine choke locked in like that.

Khabib asked UFC for Nate too.

"Will see what's happen next, I've already asked for a fight with him at UFC bosses"

It was not indoor, outdoor like the last events there..

I'm almost positive an announcer said it felt like 125Ā° in the arena during prelims. I cheked abu dhabi's temp on my phone and it said 95Ā°, feels like 125Ā° during the event. If you watched the prelims you could tell by the second round, some fighters were beyond gassed.

Also they had a red hot chili peppers concert a few nights before and people were complaining it was a terrible venue due to the heat.

Fair enough, maybe it was just an observation, and youā€™re right, Nate is a different beast on the ground and in a submission situation.

In the post-Conor era, I see a lot of people jumping for or against their guy. Masvidal was ā€˜luckyā€™ against Ben; Conor didnā€™t really lose to Khabib; if X fight happened again, X fighter would smash them etc etc.

I long for the days when a victory can just be a victory. Iā€™m not a Khabib nut-hugger, but how anyone could not agree that his last 2 fights were emphatic is beyond me.

Iā€™d love to see Nate vs. Khabib (as well as GSP). Honestly though, I have no idea how those fights would play out.

This is what I was thinking while watching it. As soon as the gap disappeared Khabib faught the choke off. I think youā€™re severely under rating his defence of a choke ā€¦

Nate never would have gotten that far. He probably gets beat up even worse than Barboza (since it would be 5 rounds instead of 3)

lol he did? that's because Nate is such a dangerous opponent for him! hahaha

I'm not sure whether it is considered indoors or outdoors. The roof is covered but not sealed to the elements. It's kind of hard to explain. Basically it's an outdoor arena with a covering for the sun.

Nurmagomedov challenged Gilbert Melendez on social media, with the two then expected to face off at UFC 170 on 22 February 2014.[37] However, the bout was cancelled for undisclosed reasons,[38] with Melendez then replaced by Nate Diaz. However, the match-up was again cancelled as Diaz turned the bout down

Exactly this, that's why it is considered an outdoor arena. No central air, no walls with insulation to change the ambient temperature around the cage/lights.

It's hot as hell, for fans and fighters alike.

rda tried to arm in guillotine, he did the ab crunch, khabib still got out

Nate's a tough out for anyone, so I wouldn't go that far, but yea.

Its like when people say Vinny MagalhĆ£es would have finished the armbar Vitor had on Jon Jones. It totally ignores the fact that Jon would leave Vinny a bloody mess shooting a single on the ref.

Nate's skinny noodle arms wouldn't choke the massive neck of Khabib

Long Noodle arms are great for choking
