Kevin Holland Wants Nate Diaz
Of course, one man who has been gunning for a fight with Diaz and would love to be his exiting partner inside the Octagon is Kevin Holland. Holland responded to Diazās July 30 date by saying heās down to fight Diaz in what he calls his hometown of Dallas, Texas.
Holland has attempted to get the UFC to book him against Diaz in the past, however, heās indicated that those pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
Kevin Holland has also expressed interest in a fight against Stephen Thompson. Most recently, Holland defeated Tim Means to make his 2022 record 2-0 after also stopping Alex Oliveira in March.
Lolā¦theyāre going to string Nate along until Chimaev is ready.

Iām losing interest in watching him fight. By the time he gets back in there he will be 46 and punch drunk. Sorry Vegito Blue my brother but the Diaz era is way over.
Nate Diaz has been calling for the UFC to give him the final fight on his contract for several months now, and it looks like they may have finally given it to him.
According to Chael Sonnen, the Stockton fighter has accepted an offer from the promotion, although he didnāt have a name or a date to go along with that information.
āI got a little inside scoop for you guys, which is Diaz has accepted a fight,ā Sonnen said in a new YouTube video. āDiaz has a fight coming up. I gotta stop right there. I donāt know who the opponent is and Iām not holding that from you. And we know Chimaev and Nate have been associated together for a period of time now.ā
āIām not announcing for you guys that itās Diaz vs. Chimaev. Iām sharing some inside ⦠Diaz has a fight. That Iām sharing with you guys. Is it Chimaev?ā
Nate hasnāt fought since a June 2021 decision loss to Leon Edwards. With just one fight left on his UFC contract, the behind-the-scenes word was the promotion wanted Diaz to sign a one-fight contract extension before giving him another bout.
āRelease me July 30 so I have 3 weeks to promote the Jake Paul fight!ā
Nate has no business at welterweight
Nate Diaz isnāt necessarily done fighting in the UFC, but he sure seems done with being anchored exclusively to the UFC.
In a special edition of The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Diaz made it clear that he has no interest in renewing his UFC contract, which has just one fight left on its existing deal.
āI was trying to get this sh-t on the road, but they donāt want me out of contract and theyāre keeping me in there and theyāre holding me hostage,ā Diaz said (via MMA Fighting). āAnd I want out. Thatās my main objective here.
āThey donāt want to let me out of my contract,ā he said. āThey want me to fight Conor. Iām not fighting Conor McGregor right now. Our timelines arenāt matching up. ⦠You bring yourself back to life, and Iāll be back later.ā
Nate claimed that each fight offer heās received has come with a new contract offer which he is opposed to signing.
Diaz hasnāt fought since a five-round decision loss to Leon Edwards at UFC 263. After the second fight with Conor McGregor in August 2016, Diaz didnāt compete again until three years later at UFC 241. He defeated Anthony Pettis by decision and then had a fairly quick turnaround against Jorge Masvidal, coming up short in their āBMFā title fight at UFC 243. Of course, during that lengthy layoff was a cancelled fight vs. Dustin Poirier in 2018 and the usual drama concerning whether or not a Diaz brother would return to fighting.
It is not new for Diaz to ask for his UFC release, but now weāre at exactly 15 years of Nate being under contract with the promotion, and the landscape has undoubtedly changed in more recent years. Jake Paul, who is boxing Hasim Rahman Jr next month, expressed interest in taking on Diaz in the ring if heās let out of his contract, and it appears the interest is mutual.
āIām interested in everything,ā he said. āIām interested in activity. If heās going to be the first one to step up, Iāll fight him. Iāll fight everybody. Anyone who wants to fight, Iāll fight thatās actually talking some sāt like Jake Paul.ā
Diaz isnāt trash his overall time in the UFC, saying he appreciates them but believes ātheyāre valuing me in private, but Iām devalued in the public.ā He also doesnāt factor money into this current contract dispute, but rather the freedom gained to do what he wants.
āI donāt want no more money,ā Diaz said. āI want to go do different stuff. I went in there and talked to them, and itās with all due respect. ⦠I might just re-sign afterward, but I need out.ā
