Nazi rally in NYC, 1939 (video)

Stumbled across this short video of a "Mass Demonstration for True Americanism" in Madison Square Garden, in 1939.

The rally was meant to protest the Communist government of FDR and his "Jew Deal."

The giant picture of George Washington is a weird touch.

true americanism? communist jew deal?

old version of the tea party.

"true americanism? communist jew deal?

old version of the tea party."

Its preposterous to think that a foreign nation could send agents to rally support with 'Americans' to act on another nation's behalf and that they would act as a fifth column. That couldn't possibly happen...

As for the tea party being Nazis, from the tea party's home page: We believe the responsibility of our beloved nation is etched upon the hearts of true American Patriots from every race, religion, national origin, and walk of life sharing a common belief in the values which made and keep our beloved nation great.

Bone-chilling. That is damn near verbatim to the Nazi doctrine as stated by Hitler. Fuck. Me. Nice work bro.

yea, I can't remember the last time I heard tea baggers talk about rail against the president as a commie, who hold foreign interests up over national ones, and how only they represent "true americans."

the shoe fits, it just makes you look bad.

"yea, I can't remember the last time I heard tea baggers talk about rail against the president as a commie, who hold foreign interests up over national ones, and how only they represent "true americans.""

Tea baggers? Wouldn't that be the province of the left? Meanwhile in adult land: 'Justice Department attorneys are advancing an argument at the Supreme Court that could allow the government to invoke international treaties as a legal basis for policies such as gun control that conflict with the U.S. Constitution'

'the shoe fits, it just makes you look bad.'

I think you mean ethnic Americans...

I was perusing their website (teaparty.org), they list 15 core principles, which of those are exclusive to Nazis? Which are jointly held by the tea party and Nazis? Then let's drop by the Democrat's website and make some comparisons. Then just to spin our collective dreidels, how about Likud party's website?

"I think you mean ethnic Americans..."

whats an "ethnic american" my white power friend?

and man, you are fucking dumb. I am not calling the tea baggers nazis. I'm saying that railing against make believe commies, being a natiolist zealot, and talking about how they are "real americans" is a hallmark of the tea baggers.

capiche?

You post this:

"true americanism? communist jew deal?

old version of the tea party."

then this:

"I am not calling the tea baggers nazis."

You absolutely did, now you're trying to crawfish away from your position. Why not take the honorable way out here and admit you're being a bombastic little welp and I'll let this go without further exposing you as what can only be described as 'intellectually gender neutral'. Deal? Side note, there's no need for the insults and swearing, I have no problem with people like you getting hitched, having your parades or having children.

Since you're obviously not American, I will excuse your ignorance of what an 'American' is in that sense.

You post this:

"true americanism? communist jew deal?

old version of the tea party."

very good. so obviously, what I'm saying is, those two thigns would come out of the mouth of a modern day tea bagger. Does that compute? Granted, theyd replaced Jew with Muslim, but the rest is spot on.

"You absolutely did, now you're trying to crawfish away from your position"
no, you're an idiot, and you misinterpreted something.

so, yes, these idiots sound like an old version of the tea party.

"American ethnicity refers to those identifying as ethnically American."

oh great, than I'm an ethnic american.

now back to the original point, like I was saying, the shoe fits the tea party. it jsut makes them (and you I'm guessing from your defensiveness) look bad.

let's try this again.

are you saying that the teaparty doesn't think they are the representatives of "true americans" and that they don't think the president is a commie?

"very good. so obviously, what I'm saying is, those two thigns would come out of the mouth of a modern day tea bagger. Does that compute? Granted, theyd replaced Jew with Muslim, but the rest is spot on."

Not obvious at all, you chose your words and then act surprised that get called on being a buffoon using that language? The platform of the Nazi party and that of the tea party, would be diametrically opposed, (not being a member of either, I have no dog in this fight) so consider my taking you to task over this, a defense of common sense.

'oh great, than I'm an ethnic american.'

you're welcome?

"now back to the original point, like I was saying, the shoe fits the tea party. it jsut makes them (and you I'm guessing from your defensiveness) look bad."

Again, you're position is that the tea party is the 21st century of the Nazi party in America.... or that the Nazi party of the 30s shares so many similarities with the tea party that its the first thing that springs to mind when that clip is viewed.

I offered a direct comparison to the current platform of the democratic party and you didn't acknowledge that mental exercise so clearly you weren't interested in drawing historical comparisons between generational politics. You wanted to drop in, throw a bomb and disappear. Sadly for you, this is like mental viagra for anyone with a bit of historical knowledge and you are going to continue getting virta-rogered over your flippant, irresponsible comments until you confess and make amends.

"Not obvious at all, you chose your words and then act surprised that get called on being a buffoon using that language? "

i chose them, and then you misinterpreted them. the end.

"The platform of the Nazi party and that of the tea party, would be diametrically opposed, "

meh, not really. but whatever, that is NOT my point. my point is that those words are almost identical to the things coming out of the mouth of tea partiers today. I've said that what, 5 times?

"Again, you're position is that the tea party is the 21st century of the Nazi party in America"

no, this is not my position. you are beating a strawman.

" or that the Nazi party of the 30s shares so many similarities with the tea party that its the first thing that springs to mind when that clip is viewed.
"

ok, you are functionally retarded. That explains a lot. I've repeated my point ad nauseum, you however, are very upset, and are failing to acknowledge the point I made.

Ari2 - let's try this again.

are you saying that the teaparty doesn't think they are the representatives of "true americans" and that they don't think the president is a commie?

don't tuck on this. Again.

"i chose them, and then you misinterpreted them. the end."

Pretty hard to miss the implication of you watching a Nazi clip and then saying they are 'the old version of the tea party'. You specifically chose to include 'jew'. Where is one instance of the official tea party doctrine outlining its issue with jews, jew deal etc. Just provide one example.

"meh, not really. but whatever, that is NOT my point. my point is that those words are almost identical to the things coming out of the mouth of tea partiers today. I've said that what, 5 times?"

I would laugh at that but I think of how poorly the educational system failed you and that saddens me. Look at what you wrote and be honest, you didn't say 'there is commonality between that stance and that of political parties today', you watched a 5 minute clip about Nazis in America and came away with a tea party comparison and once you got called on your unscrupulous, dare I say unconscionable comparison, are now backtracking as fast as your portly, kool-aid stained fingers allow. Thats partisan hackery right there playboy.

'no, this is not my position. you are beating a strawman.'

I can direct you to some good sites regarding logic and debate that can help you with terms and the fundamentals. You wrote

"true americanism? communist jew deal?

old version of the tea party."

after viewing a clip about Nazis in the 1930s. Its not a strawman to call you on the comparison you made. If you're angry at yourself for being stupid, inarticulate or flippant: good, you should be.

"ok, you are functionally retarded. That explains a lot. I've repeated my point ad nauseum, you however, are very upset, and are failing to acknowledge the point I made."

Now why say these hurtful things? After the stunning display of historical perspective, concise rhetoric and nuanced political analysis you've put forth, including not knowing that your country has its own ethnic group (that one has to hurt), I would think you more appreciative of the time and effort I've spent correcting you. You and I both know you'll be much more careful saying dumb things for fear of another scolding. Now go pluck your eyebrows, I prefer my gals to look pretty.

Bet you didn't see the thread going this way.

"Pretty hard to miss the implication of you watching a Nazi clip and then saying they are 'the old version of the tea party'. "

you are begging the question here. That's a fallacy. That's two fallacies now, this, and the strawman you're beating.

that said, I understand the misinterpration on your part due to the thread title. but like ive said upteen times, that was not my point. I've made my point very very clearly, but you just keep avoiding it and tucking, over and over. so that said

"Its not a strawman to call you on the comparison you made. "

since I have already explained to you that you made a misinterpretation, and that the argument you are attempting to defeat is not one I'm making, you are in fact, making a strawman argument.
