Neck Helmet

There used to be a thread archive, but now I can't find it. I was looking for the one about the neck helmet, was thinking about making one. If anyone has the directions for that, and could email or post them, that would rock.

Hopefully we'll get the thread archive back soon... Kirik told me theyd be back asap, but that was like 3 weeks ago.

Yeah, I was looking for the cheap bastard-series-thread myself the other day

To build the neck helmet, you'll need a very tight-
fitting hockey or football helmet. Get the type that
uses the "double-strap" chincup/strap assembly. Go to
the local home improvement store and get a 3/4" pipe
floor flange, a piece of 3/4" threaded pipe about 8"
long, and nuts, bolts, and washers to fit the flange.
Remember that the bolts must go through the helmet top
and the flange, so get the right length.

Place the flange on top of the helmet so that the pipe
(when mounted in the flange) will tilt forward about
10 degrees. The finished product will look like a
unicorn. Mark the helmet top where you wish to drill
the holes. Drill the holes and be careful not to
destroy the interior padding of the helmet!

Mount the flange on the helmet by pushing the bolts
through the helmet top from the inside. When the
flange is secure, thread in the piece of pipe.

Simply use a dumbbell collar to secure the weight
plates on the pipe. START OUT VERY LIGHT, ABOUT 2.5#
JUST TO GET THE FEEL OF THE LEVERAGE! Going too heavy
will injure you severely!

Good luck,
