We need more tune up fights. Oliveria vs Condit was not an easy fight for Condit. I think he deserved someone he could rebuild himself off of and the ufc could rebuild him off of. Oliveria can compete and even be in the top 10. Condit should have been fighting someone 0-2
We see a trend of great fighters losing there will and way psychologically by constantly being matched up against the best. I think someone who is 0-2 0-3 with a big name shouldn't be thrown so quickly into top comp
ie Johnson vs Elkins or Melendez vs the last 2-3 people he fought

I’m looking at this in more of the context when a guy is past his prime, they should definitely get more favorable match ups. I’m not saying these should be easy fights, but should be at least good for them stylistically or winnable. For example, Vitor fought fucking Gastelum and Shogun was murdered by OSP. Then a while after he was killed, the UFC scheduled a rematch with OSP who was replaced by somebody else. Thiago Alves was matched up with that guy who decapitated his last opponent via head kick and then was KOd. I can’t think of more recent examples, but this happens way too much. UFC veterans who are in the last few years of their career are fed to fucking wolves and then are forced to retire to prevent more damage.
Sorry if this hijacked your thread or isn’t what you were saying, that’s what I got from it.
Post USADA it’s unlikely he does anything but keep declining.
He lost a tough fight vs Lawler he should have won and blew out his knee in another fight. Since then he has continued fighting top opponents, but hasnt been the same due to a major injury and years of wars at the highest level.
No wonder Pride was better, warriors were respected. Filthy ufc-only meathead fans with iqs below 70 are just assclowns.
