In advance of his December bout with Shane Carwin, Roy Nelson has enrolled in voluntary drug testing with VADA, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association. His enrollment was made public to mixedmartialarts.com, in a letter from President of VADA, Dr. Margaret Goodman:

This letter is to advise the Mixed Martial Arts LLC that Mr. Roy Nelson is a participant in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) program. He is subject to randomly-selected testing for performance enhancing drugs and methods through December 15, 2012.
We will keep the MMA LLC apprised of test results. Do not hesitate to contact me or VADA’s Chief Legal Counsel, Ryan Connolly (RConnolly@VADA-testing.org), if you have questions or concerns.
There is no confirmation as of yet if his opponent, Shane Carwin, has enrolled in the testing or not as well.
