In advance of his December bout with Shane Carwin, Roy Nelson has enrolled in voluntary drug testing with VADA, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association. His enrollment was made public to mixedmartialarts.com, in a letter from President of VADA, Dr. Margaret Goodman:

This letter is to advise the Mixed Martial Arts LLC that Mr. Roy Nelson is a participant in the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) program. He is subject to randomly-selected testing for performance enhancing drugs and methods through December 15, 2012.

We will keep the MMA LLC apprised of test results. Do not hesitate to contact me or VADA’s Chief Legal Counsel, Ryan Connolly (RConnolly@VADA-testing.org), if you have questions or concerns.

There is no confirmation as of yet if his opponent, Shane Carwin, has enrolled in the testing or not as well.

What's this for? His Cholesterol?

He needs Lipitor as a sponsor

Your move, Carwin. Show this Burger King eating SOB whats up.

Shane you gonna do it??? Phone Post

Boom! Great for the sports, respect Roy! Phone Post

So much respect for Shane. And, Roy is the 2nd most obnoxious guy in the UFC (behind Dodson, gd...). But, credit where credit is due. Volunteering for additional testing is good for the sport.

Though, nobody would ever accuse Roy of juicing. That's not the point. He's helping push the trend.

You know if weed, and all drugs for that matter, is a public health issue and is tested by sports...

isn't obesity a public health issue?
should we be testing people for being too fat?
if so, they are not allowed to fight due to the possible health implications of an obese person competing in intensive
exercise.
they could easily die of heart attack or stroke instantly.

looks like Roy's been doping on the cheeseburgers again, that should be a year suspension this time.

Funny how Roy wants to get tested so bad. I wonder if someone accused him of being on the juice Phone Post

Probably more about not fighting a juiced opponent. Hopefully Shane will enroll too but i doubt it.

DoomFarmer - Who gives 2 shits.

I hope Shane refuses just to piss Roy off.

Then it looks like shane is hiding something Phone Post

By the time VADA starts testing, the smart PED users have already cycled off (and I am not talking about Shane here).

VADA testing isn't olympic testing, they do NOT test year-around, because the testing starts only when the agreements are signed.

PED users are not ON gear close to a fight, the drugs are taken off season, when they do not have a fight scheduled.

i dont care for juice
