Ive literally never seen this much coverage on a fighter ever in my life.
I have seen Conor McGregor on 3-4 different channels doing various things and being covered from various angles. Its really fascinating to see someone get so much exposure. The amount of interest that hes generated is truly remarkable. Being a little brash and being able to speak English well in addition to top notch fighting ability and we have a superstar in the making.
Ive never seen this much coverage on a fighter ever in all my years. Has any o the fighter gotten this much coverage before? Its insane.
If McGregor wins the FW championship, we are on the verge of a phenomenon, even more so than he is already. Its pretty intriguing and im curious to see how far he can go.
You dont remember the Ronda push before UFC 157? That was insane
Jimmy Wrassler -Ya but I didnt see her speaking in interviews tho. I saw her in cell phone commercials but im seeing McGregor everywhere. Sports science, headlines, commercials, etc. Hes everywhere.

If he wins the FW strap, its only going to get bigger. Its fascinating and I'm intrigued to see how far he goes.
I honestly believe hes going to defeat Jose Aldo. There is just too much momentum behind him and his hunger is going to be hard to stop.
Keep living in your bubble, OP.
Creating a star is like taling a shit.
Sometimes it happens really fast
Sometimes you sit around forever and nothing happens
And sometimes
Sometimes
You gotta give it a big hard slimey push

epwar -What bubble is this exactly?
Keep living in your bubble, OP.
Galanis -Yup im from MA. I live in Boston. Im actually about 10 min from the W Hotel where the fighters are staying and the TD Garden.
You live in Mass like I do, right? I remember you talking about a few local fighters on here before, but I could be wrong.
The coverage here is way bigger than anywhere else. I don't think this is a huge nationwide event. It should do good numbers... but IMO the show in 2013 (FS1 debut) was way bigger. The card itself certainly was, and ther was a lot of attention around the debut of the network.
That show also had 2 million viewers, which I don't think this will come close to. That is Fs1's biggest viewership ever and it's pretty much been cut in half since then. It's just that in Boston, clearly McGregor is gonna be all over the place.. but it's not the same in the rest of the US, for sure.
I wonder how ticket sales are? TD Garden is a big ass arena to hold a fight night card in. Either way though, cannot wait to watch this tomorrow. Wish I could be there in person
Im fine watching this fight at home. Its free and comfortable. Also will be able to see the fights very clearly.
But ya, what you say makes a lot of sense. Its probably being covered here much more than anywhere else since the card is taking place at the Garden.
It seems like this for every Zuffa push. I really haven't gauged it, all of it is tired.
Galanis -Ya Tateki Matsuda is fighting. He fought Chris Beal in his debut on about a weeks notice which sucks. You work so hard to get in to the big show, then you finally get the call and you get asked to step up with 6 days notice. But this fight, he had a full training camp and should fair much better.
You got any teammates fighting on the card? I haven't really checked the undercard out at all.
It was great to see Rob Font do well. I've been watching him since he was fighting for Premier. Did you ever go to any of the EFI/NAFL shows in Springfield area?
Yup, Ive been to the shows in Springfield. Im cool with a bunch of the Springfield fighters and have trained with a bunch of them. My favorite dude to train with was Justin Torrey. Dude has some sick skills and is awesome to train with. Neither of us had any egos and we were able to just have an awesome training session.
Im also cool with John Howard who is fighting this weekend as well.
Still can't believe Tateki weighed in at 125. He was 145-150 walking weight back when I was training at SYT.
Buddy of mine since high school who has probably never seen a UFC and probably could not name a single UFC fighter said yesterday to me "Whoa, how about that Irish guy." He has definitely broken through.
He is only being covered on FS1 for the rest of us.
I live in Los Angeles and the guy is everywhere this weekend. I'm not a fan of the UFC hype machine but this guy is set explode IF he wins the strap.
Kirik -

Hes never heard of Chuck Liddell but is asking you about Connor? Crazy
Lot of eggs in the McGregor basket, no doubt
The UFC wants to make sure that you know you're a fan of his
