New Insurance how long to wait try for kneesurgery

So i just got a Tonik 1500 plan.  My knee is pretty jacked up... ive sprained it many times and recently pretty bad.  It reinjures very easily and feels like it binds up, from my research it sounds like a tear in one of my ligaments and a meniscus problem, seeing as though it pops in and out of place.

My question is if i wait a couple months and purposely reinjure it  can i just go in and get the surgery done with no problems you think?  I have no medical history on that knee.  So i should be good as far as that.  Any input is appreciatted.

If you didn't know about it (or they can't prove you knew about it) prior to getting the new insurance, then go for it.  They might hassle you a little about it, but if your policy covers it, then they have to pay.

Don't purposely injury it.  That's retarded.  Just take care of whatever is wrong with it.

Well I don't know if they can determine scar tissue, plus if I come in and isn't all swolen up it may look like an old injury, you know what I mean. I've injured it like 4 times so I'm sure there is scar tissue Phone Post

As long as it doesn't fall under "pre-existing medical conditions" you should be fine. Scar tissue doesn't matter because there is no way they can prove that it's bothered you in the past. Make sure you tell the Dr. that this is a recent injruy.

Fuck these insurance companies. My mother-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer which has now matastosized to her liver and gull bladder. Before this shes paid for years 1100 a month for her and her husband and never went in for more than a check up. Now she's been on chemo for almost a year and they are telling her that she has exceeded her benefits of 75000 a year and they will no longer provide her with treatment for 2010.

Sorry for going off on a tangent but these companies are more than happy to take your money but leave you hanging when you need them the most. This is why I voted Democrat for the first time ever.

I say milk them dry!

yeah i know man it is crazy what these companies can do.  They really are evil.  I really have low expectations as to how this will be handled from all the insurance horror stories i have heard.

You think i need to reinjure it.  What i was thinking of doing is wait a month or so and go in and tell them i hurt it about two weeks ago and didnt go in immediatly bc i wanted to see if it would heal but it didnt.

Im just afraid if i go in trying to get a 10- 20 thousand dollar surgery they might kick me off having only been with them for a month.

If it's bothering you now then I'd go in. If not then wait til you injure it again. My buddy did the same thing and he's now had 2 surgeries on the same knee and is scheduled for another one on the other knee and he hasn't had any issues with the insurance yet.
