Is he known for leg locks? Did he finish much competition with them?

Lol!

Mine is more of a rhetorical question.

People should study Danaher and his people to learn leg locks.

i heard Erik Paulson on Stephen Kestings podcast telling him how all these leg locks were being done way back in the “day”. Gtfo.

paulson is a badass but is delusional on this point

until dds went down that rabbit hole and refined leg locks, they weren’t very effective against a skilled opponent.

and that goes for Barnett as well.

You have no idea about Paulson and his history of leg locks.

100% agree. He is probably very new to MMA/BJJ.

John didn’t invent any leglocks but he has created a very good system. He admitted he borrowed from many different resources, Paulson, Gokor, Sonnon, Lister, “Paul Harris”… But it was his brain that put things together in a proven successful system.

I’ll take any top Eric Paulson or Gokor leg locker and put them up against a DDS guy any day of the week. DDS wins 10/10 times .

If you think for one second the entaglement and breaking techniques are the same as Eric and Gokor used to teach YOU don’t know shit about leg locks .

Sorry, quoted the wrong guy .

Tonon went against Karen something from Gokor and Tonon did win in Ebi.but he wasn’t getting close to any leg locks and Karen had no problems getting out of them.

Also the dds system aka Eddie Cummings system looks straight out of Scott Sonnons saddle system.

He doesn’t deny it.

the difference is cummings and danaher really went deep into the mechanics of leg control and breaking mechanics when attacking the heel. where gokor and paulson really started from scratch and were more into just the submission part more then the control. but u gotta understand the dds had so many people to build off that already did so much research to take from. the modern people are always gonna be better but that doesnt take away from the original trail blazers.

karen did go back and forth with tonon the whole match and tonon couldnt finish him. another thing is danaher and dds use the term "leg locks" but its all heel hooks where paulson and barnett do the heel hook, toe hold, knee bar and straight ankle. i think barnetts specialty is the toe hold and its very effective. so if youre interested in more then just the "heel hook" this dvd is prolly a great buy.

i feel like toe holds are gonna make a come back because when done right they are extremely effective and easy to catch someone a lot better then you similar to the heel hook. its just a lot of people dont do them properly. just like the heel hook before eddie cummings.

The highlight of Karen’s leg lock grappling game is not getting tapped by Garry. Ninja Please

Its absolutely not all heel hooks. That's just what you see the most because a heel hook, particularly inside, is the king of lower body submissions.
