We are very pleased to announce the debut of Atlantic Canada's newest MMA promotion. Phoenix Fight Promotions will launch its first show, New Years Restitution, Jan 12 at the Halifax Forum. Expect excitement as we showcase some of the best talent the Maritimes has to offer as well as other top names from around North America.
Our main event will feature Edwin Dewees against Cory MacDonald. 3 time UFC veteran Edwin Dewees is looking for a path back to the top of the MW food chain and has set his sights on Ontario native Cory MacDonald. Cory has faced the role of underdog before. After a freak eye injury lead to an early night against UFC veteran Jonathon Goulet, in a fight many fans believed Cory was winning, he is ready to prove that he is among the best in the MW division.

Good luck to the guys from Kingston and Remi from Ottawa. Is there only the one Ottawa fighter on the card, because I had heard a rumor there were two from OAMA?
I'm just glad I live in Ottawa where we can have MMA events right across the border in Quebec. It's crazy how many cards go on in Quebec, out east, out west and Ontario hasnt gotten its act together. So much money being lost out on.
Unfortunatley the other OAMA athlete couldn't get licenced in enough time to satisfy the Boxing Authority so we had to find a replacement in Peter MacGrath. Peter and Vartan have the potential to put on fight of the night.
Thanks for the well wishes guys. I think this is going to be a great organization and hopefully we can provide great match ups for the fans. I think that with 2 permanent organizations and a few other visiting organizations that the maritime athletes are finally able to keep busy and get the exposure they need to become competitive at both the national and international mma scene. I feel the maritimes is a hotbed for talent and am optomistic that several new athletes follow in the steps of Grant, Hollett and J. MacDonald within the next year or two.
