New TV Advice

Looking for advice on a new tv. My old one is older than sleepy joe. Looking at the 55 to 60 inch range

What's your budget? Have a sound system already?

In ... I need one too.

Just bought a TCL 55"
TCL - 55" Class 4 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV for around 350.00. It works great.

I can't see splurging on a TV that isnt OLED.

Bang for the buck, you can't beat the TCL 600 series. Anything below that (400 and below) is comparable to all the other bagain brands. Their top models are great for the price. I have a 55" in my cave and I love it.

Do you want a sound bar or a dedicated system with remote speakers etc.

Is the grand for just the TV?

How much for the sound system?

$1000 for the tv. We will likely pimp out the sound later. All depends on finances of course. Probably 500-600 for souns system

If your current TV is still working and you can wait two months, it might be worth seeing if they're are any good black Friday deals.

I could be wrong, but with covid I expect them to have all their deals online, as opposed to some of the "in store only" deals they sometimes run

I have a sound bar and sub. Currently a 49” Samsung. Could go a little bit bigger but not huge due to where it has to be.

If you are getting the new Xbox or PS5 you will want a TV that can do 120hz

Just got a new 75” Bravia and love it :D

I disagree on any OLED or bust talk, the price difference is just too great still and higher end LED TV’s aren’t as far off as you’d think and can actually hold up quite well against an OLED considering the price differences.

They are amazing with great detail, was all over that site when looking for my TV last month.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on it though. Every TV has a negative and I agonized too long over mine until I branched out and checked some other real world reviews and that sealed the deal for me.

Good to get some other opinions to combine with the insane level of data analysis on rtings.com.

Haha I did this too several years ago when looking to upgrade.

The last while I've used it a simple guide but I pretty much use their calibration baselines on all my tv's and projector.
