Hey guys wanted a little advice on a upcoming purchase. I currently have a evga gtx 580 3gb video card. I am looking to upgrade to either a evga gtx 670 sc or evga gtx 680 Ftw. My dilemma is if sli is really worth it on 1920 x 1080. If it isn't then I'm goin with the 680.
why would you want to do that? there isnt a game out that the 580 cant tame. sli?
Well it performs ok but there is definitely room for improvement. Plus I got the upgrade itch, the shit is contagious. Sli is two video cards working as one, basically sharing the workload increasing performance. I'm just not sure if I will see the performance increase on a 1920x1080 monitor.
If your playing at the resolution a 670 will
Be more than enough, considering you can OC it and have it be better than a stock 680. Plus you save 100 bucks.

If you're not gonna use the 580 then send it to meeee, ive been needing to upgrade for forever LOL =/

I'm actually going to sell the 580. Probably on eBay. It's only been in use since the end of march. Anyone interested let me know. Probably will sell it around 400 or so

Really?
I got a 470 GTX and I can handle Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 and Metro 2033 in Ultra....Sure not with the best framerates and overclocking it helps but still.
If you want to go better, buy a monitor with better resolution that 1080p.
I just picked up a MSI gtx 680 lightning for my new build.
I'd wait for the next gen tbh... my 580gtx plays everything in ultra that I've thrown at it.
@ 1920x1080.. ez pz too
what do you have for a cpu?
I have a i7 3770k. I was thinking about waiting for the 700 series. The Kepler gpu is really efficient but I hear the next gen will blow it out of the water. I guess I'm looking for a good purchase that will kind of "future proof " myself for the best few years
yeah I'd wait.. or if you can't wait atleast grab the 680.. the 670 is a bump, but not a very big one.
