Niagra Falls, US side, TME?

My wife and I took a trip to Niagra Falls before the children were born and stayed on the Canadian side. We had a lot of fun, but it was in October and certain things like the boat rides were closed. We always talked about going back, but now we have 3 kids. We aren’t going to be leaving the country any time soon and I can’t see getting 5 passports just to cross the bridge for a few days.

We didn’t see any of the American side of things while we were there. So what is there to do, especially for kids on the US side in that area?

On the Canadian side there were several attractions like Ripley’s, those little haunted house things, wax museum etc. Even did the helicopter ride and the tunnels behind the falls, but the falls themselves got boring to look at after about 5 minutes.

I heard the American side sucks. War Canada!

It’s wet.

Barrels are discouraged.

Yea, I don’t plan on fetching any driftwood either… looking for land attractions

Also, are the two boat rides available from the American side? Talking the Maid of the Mist or whatever its called and the other that takes you around the whirl pool upriver?

I heard there is some very valuable driftwood around those parts.

I’m from the Falls. It’s the exit from the U.S. With the exception of the immediate area of Niagara Falls, the area is filled with slums and housing projects. One wrong turn and you’ll end up on the corner of Highland Ave and Center. Do not advise going there.

Fuck.....

I haven’t crossed a boarder since the passport laws have changed. Is there a cheaper option to visit the area? Like a day pass to walk across rainbow bridge? Haha. I seriously can’t see paying that much for passports for THAT trip, on top of the trip itself.

crack and a casino

literally thats it

Well fuck, abort mission then lol

I should add the canadian side has added a ton of attractions in the last couple years - race track, water parks, stuff like that

either way there is literally nothing to do or even look at from the US side.  The best falls vista is from the CDN side. The best vantage point is table rock, right on the brink.  Its breathtaking.

I was just browsing around for info, can you clarify?

Some sites are saying kids under 16 can cross with just a birth certificate? I assume all adults do right? There isn’t a form of temporary thing you can do?

I literally don’t know anything about boarder crossing these days. When we went last time we didn’t plan it, just packed a couple bags and grabbed a map. Found a hotel when we got there and went exploring. Never saw the American side as we got lost in Buffalo, went to far north, crossed the boarder and asked for directions to the falls haha. Some dude told us to follow the river.

^ That was suppose to say all adults do need passport, right?

How old are the kids? The jet boat is pretty cool. You have lots of Indian restaurants. The fort. Hiking trails. The Maid of the Mist. You can rent a boat and putt up and down a decent stretch of the river, poke through the canals, and dock for some food.

one of my students is a border agent.  She wrote this:

"Driving? Birth certificate is good, if they have any type of photo of to go with it (school id card etc.) It's always good to accompany it just to put a face to the paper"

I then asked if adults need a passport, she wrote:

"No. Passport is always best, or an enhanced licence (depending on the state) or drivers license with a birth certificate."

passports mandatory at airports. Not driving.

Nikola Tesla statue on Goat Island near the Falls.

Get wings in Buffalo.

Steak pizza at La Nova.

Ted’s Charcoal Hots

Really appreciate that… we would be driving for sure. So it is actually possible if we all have photo ID’s and birth certificates to maybe cross the boarder for a few hours? Kids are all under 10.
