Nick keeps saying he wants money fights, there are some intriguing matchups if you pick through the 170lbs and 185lbs divisions but how many big name big money fights are there? Nick knows hes the big money name and pulls! He should get ppv points on any fight
170
Thiago Alves
Cowboy
Killa B
Jake Ellenburger
Carlos Condit
GSP
Lawler
185
Uriah Hall
Lyoto Machida
Barn Cat
Hendo
Johnny Hendricks
it's either title , GSP or Anderson rematch imo. I don't think Nick gets out of bed for any of the other guys.
I hate to tell you but Diaz is not going to pass a drug test anytime soon. So he will keep passing up offers.
He isnt interested in fighting.. keeps turning down fights.
Barn kitty got cut :/
TheMessiah - He isnt interested in fighting.. keeps turning down fights. He wants more money so he's holding out
ithurts11 -My point is that if Nick keeps turning down fights against the big names he's gunna run out of options. It's probably just a money thing though, there are plenty of big names but it depends if he wants to fight themGrindo's Power Bottom - Nick keeps saying he wants money fights, there are some intriguing matchups if you pick through the 170lbs and 185lbs divisions but how many big name big money fights are there? No disrespect Ben but I'd bet you agree

I want to see him fight but odds are slim..
Nick Diaz still GOAT - it's either title , GSP or Anderson rematch imo. I don't think Nick gets out of bed for any of the other guys.
He turned down Woodley, so I guess title is out.
The part I don't understand, is that his best leverage to get these big money fights is to be the champ. He is a huge attraction, and as champ the money fights he might take now would earn him exponentially more money. Maybe he just doesn't want the requirements/pressure of being champ.

Diaz fans get all butt hurt when I say this, but it's because nick knows he can't beat a top contender and could never defend. He will take fights against guys like GSP or Anderson, knowing he has no shot but knowing he'll make big money off their names.
But you're right. And everyone knows it. The big money is as champ, defending on big PPV's, and earning PpV points. But again, he knows he can't do that, so he won't try. He knows if he takes a fight against Maia, Lawler, or any other top 10 guy, he will inevitably lose and blow his chances of big name fights.? If he only fights Anderson or GSP, it's "well ya he's losing but look who he's fighting!!" If he thought he could win, he'd beat Maia now, fight for the title this summer, and be making huge money by the end of the year.
Bisping at 185, champ or not.
Dallasmmajunkie -I hate to tell you that he can smoke a bong hit per day everyday of camp and still pass the drug testI hate to tell you but Diaz is not going to pass a drug test anytime soon. So he will keep passing up offers.
I don't think he fights anytime soon. The game has passed him by.
Where is the proof he's a huge draw?
GSP sold that PPV and Anderson Silvia certainly played a part in that draw.
The Silvia fight didn't do Lesnar/Ronda/Conor numbers either.
When has it been proven that Nick Diaz equals PPV buys?
Nate is the star now actually.
Nick has been gone so long and the casuals never really latched into him.
I fail to see his leverage and especially so with the new owners.
Unless he says, "I'm Nate's brother." I don't think WME-IMG sends the Brink's truck over.
No disrespect intended. I like Nick.
Nick isn't a star with casual fans so I'm befuddled when it's spoken about as if he could be on an even playing field with Conor and pick his spots.
Dallasmmajunkie -What? Pass a drug test for what lol? You are allowed to smoke weed up until like 3-4 days prior to your fight.I hate to tell you but Diaz is not going to pass a drug test anytime soon. So he will keep passing up offers.
FrontBroRian -Or he could just hold out long enough to were they give him more money and a bigger fight than Maia.Dick Niaz -Nick Diaz still GOAT - it's either title , GSP or Anderson rematch imo. The UFC has no stars at the moment. I guarantee you if nick continues to play hard ball, and the UFC continues this shitty matchmaking and 250K ppv cards nick will have all the leverage in the world to get the deal he wants.
What does him fighting Maia do for him? If he wins he gets to fight for the title? He was already offered a title shot..

It upsets Diaz fans but I've said this for years. He headlined against Condit and BJ and averaged around 350k buys, and no doubt many of those were due to his opponents as they're both well known.

When was he offered a title shot? Pretty sure Dana has said he will not give him a title shot. You have a source?

I pretty much agree. Two of those fights won't happen. And I don't know if Anderson really cares for a rematch. So hopefully Nick can be enticed by someone else.

The fact that the UFC is offering him these fights is the proof.
